Despite devastating wildfires that ravaged the California's Wine Country, a leading advocacy group for California's wine producers said on Wednesday that wine production was not significantly impacted by the wildfires. The Wine Institute said that close to 90 percent of winegrapes had already been picked and produced from California's top three wine producing counties before the wildfires struck. "The vast majority of California's 2017 winegrape harvest was unaffected by the wildfires and the vintage promises to be of excellent quality," said Robert P. (Bobby) Koch, president and CEO of Wine Institute. "The outpouring of support locally and from around the world for people in the impacted communities has been phenomenal."Wine production in 2017 was boosted by an end to California's five-year drought. Rain, plus a mid-summer heat wave, made for good conditions to help produce winegrapes. Cooler weather in the fall caused winegrapes to ripen more slowly, lowering overall yield. The October wildfires killed 43, and caused at least billion in damage.  1129

DENVER (KMGH) -- You could call it the very definition of the old expression of being in "the right place at the right time" when several emergency room doctors saved a man's life at a Denver sandwich shop.The doctors happened to be in town for a conference of ER doctors. They were on a lunch break Monday afternoon at Snarf's on Champa when the man walked in and collapsed."He went into cardiac arrest. His heart stopped beating, stopped pumping blood," said Dr. David Levy. Levy was alongside several of his former residents and a pair of emergency physicians from New Jersey, who all jumped into action."We did chest compressions. We shocked him with the [defibrillator]," he explained.The man was without a pulse three separate times, but the team was able to revive it in time for medics to arrive and transport him to the hospital."Everyone expects this to happen in a hospital in a controlled environment, but when you’re there, and it happens on the floor of a restaurant it takes you by surprise," Levy said. "He would have died if no one was there to intervene."As of Monday night, the man had survived the ordeal and was being treated in the intensive care unit.And what did this group of hero doctors do next?"We washed our hands, sat down, and finished our lunch," Levy said.Levy would go on to win three separate awards that night as part of the convention, the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians. 1478

You need to book that now," said McKinley. Airline ticket prices will start to go up as it gets closer to Thanksgiving. McKinley said while travel search engine sites can give you options, going to a travel agent may be better. "This day in age, you might think, 'Hey I should go online. It might be easier and cheaper.’ But travel agents generally don't charge for their services, and they got their expertise because they do this all the time," McKinley said.Resorts in the Caribbean may be having deals right now due to hurricane Irma, but AAA recommends to do your homework on the region and resort to make sure everything is operational before booking. “If you see these really good deals, that you can’t believe.
