(KGTV) — Arson investigators say evidence of a THC butane oil extraction lab was found in the East County home where a massive fire broke out Wednesday.The fire started just before 3 p.m. at 1660 Via Elisa at the home's master bedroom and back deck area, according to the Sheriff's Department.While it appeared the fire was most likely accidental, investigators said evidence "consistent with a THC butane oil extraction lab" was discovered. A followup investigation was ongoing as of Thursday.SDSO said no one was hurt in the fire, but two dogs, that may have been service canines, were killed. 620

(KGTV) - The owners of the Cottonwood Golf Club in El Cajon have filed an application with the county to convert the property into a sand mine.Details were revealed at the Valle del Oro community planning group meeting earlier this month.The proposal calls for a three-phase mining operation over 10 years.The first phase would take place on the course west of the Steele Canyon bridge, which has already been closed to golfers.Sand is needed as a component of concrete, which has become scarcer during the construction boom of the past decade.The mine would produce a maximum of 570,000 tons a year, creating an estimated 170 heavy truck round trips a day from the site.The property is owned by Beverly Hills real estate agent Michael Schlesinger, who also owns the shuttered golf courses at Stoneridge Country Club and Escondido Country Club.10News reached out to EnviroMine, the consulting company involved in the plan. They said they would comment at a later date.Nearby residents have already created an opposition group called “Stop Cottonwood Sand Mine.”Barry Jantz is one of the organizers who argues a sand mine is not compatible with the neighborhood.“The character of the neighborhood would be impacted,” said Jantz.More specifically, he says they are worried about the noise and traffic from the trucks, as well as pollution, environmental impacts and the potential to decrease property values. (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested Sunday after an El Cajon officer was seriously injured after being dragged by a vehicle earlier in December.According to police, Keani Flores, 28, was a passenger in the vehicle involved in the assault on the officer, Nick Cirello.The driver of the vehicle, David Pangilinan was seen in the Oakhurst area by officers,When police tried to conduct a traffic stop, Pangilinan fled the scene and “evaded apprehension,” police said. Flores was reportedly located at a motel nearby. Authorities are still searching for Pangilinan.Officer Cirello was hit by the vehicle on December 14 on the 100 block of West Washington Street after officers responded to a call regarding a vehicle blocking the roadway with the driver and passenger asleep inside the vehicle.When officers tried to wake the pair up, the driver provided identification for someone else before starting the vehicle.When Cirello tried to stop him, he was dragged before being struck by another vehicle traveling past the scene.Cirello was taken to the hospital before being released on December 18. (KGTV) - The driver accused of killing a pregnant woman on Mother's Day in Ramona is at the East County Courthouse Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.Prosecutors say Andrew Milonis, 44, was driving under the influence and struck and killed 29-year-old Jessica Foderingham and her unborn daughter in May.Milonis is accused of leaving the scene on San Vicente Rd. and hiring a Lyft driver to take him to a bar.Milonis is facing eight felony charges, including murder. 504

(KGTV) - Surveillance video has recently captured multiple incidents of what appears to be a thief returning over and over to prey upon elderly residents of the Salvation Army apartment building in El Cajon.Apartment staff at the building on South Anza Street say there have been at least five robberies between October and Christmas Eve. Each appears to include the same thief."He's the lowest form of life in my book," building superintendent Alex Harmon told 10News. "To prey on the elderly. They've got walkers for crying out loud."In one incident captured on video, the man approached a 97-year-old woman taking a walk on the sidewalk outside the building. He was seen opening her bag, which was placed on her walker, then removing an item and walking away.The woman later told building staff that he had struck up a conversation about her walker and that she had offered him candy. She says he opened her bag and instead of taking candy, stole her wallet.In a separate incident, the suspected thief and what appears to be a lookout are seen carefully observing an elderly woman walking by. One man then turned and followed her around the corner. She told 10News that's when he raced up and grabbed her gold necklace, breaking off her gold cross, and running off.Multiple police reports have been filed with El Cajon Police Department, which is investigating. 1389
