There is an urgent need for more healthcare workers nationwide.Recruiting firm NuWest Group is working to find 200 nurses before the end of this week. Specifically, they want intensive care unit (ICU) nurses who will travel to the hardest hit areas, like New York City.“What all these facilities are gearing up for is this middle of April timeline, so the big rush to get these nurses to where they need to be before the peak hits,” said Mona Veiseh, President of NuWest Group’s Healthcare Division. NuWest Group says it wants to speed-up nurses becoming licensed to work in other states. They did this in Washington state. New York is already willing to look at any licensure across the country.Nurses are being paid more incentives to work where the greatest need is. Mona Veiseh says the pay rates for ICU nurses and registered respiratory technicians are the highest she's seen in her 14 years in the business. She's also seeing many nurses already answering the call to go where there is need.“I have seen entire units lend groups of ICU nurses to other units across the country trying to get the nurses to where the outbreaks are the most significant,” said Veiseh. Another unprecedented measure – nurses and medical students are being fast tracked to work in hospitals earlier. Some nurses in New Jersey are working in field hospitals for their final semester instead of going to school. Students at New York University’s school of medicine will start their internships at hospitals in the city three-months early.NuWest Group has 1550

The top US general overseeing military operations in the Middle East warned Thursday that despite the terror group's territorial losses the fight against ISIS is "far from over," cautioning that the remnants of the group are positioning themselves for a potential resurgence."Reduction of the physical caliphate is a monumental military accomplishment but the fight against ISIS and violent extremism is far from over," Gen. Joseph Votel the commander of US Central Command told the House Armed Services Committee.Votel acknowledged that the terror group's territory had shrunk from some 34,000 square miles at the height of its power to an area that is currently less than a single square mile in the Syrian town of Baghouz. But he cautioned that many ISIS fighters have left these last pockets and have dispersed across Syria and Iraq."We will need to maintain a vigilant offensive against this now widely dispersed and disaggregated organization that includes leaders, fighters, facilitators, resources and of course their toxic ideology," he said. And while hundreds of family members of ISIS fighters have left the group's last remaining pocket and surrendered to the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, Votel warned that this was a "calculated move" aimed at preserving the group's ability to fight in the future."What we are seeing now is not the surrender of ISIS as an organization but a calculated decision to preserve the safety of their families and the preservation of their capabilities by taking their chances in camps for internally displaced persons and going to ground in remote areas and waiting for the right time to resurge," Votel said."The ISIS population being evacuated from the remaining vestiges of the caliphate largely remains unrepentant, unbroken and radicalized," he added, citing observations from US troops on the ground in Syria.Votel went on to describe what the next phase of the fight against ISIS will look like, saying "we will see low level attacks, we'll see assassinations, we'll see IED attacks, we'll see ambush type things as they begin to emerge from this."While President Donald Trump had initially announced his intent to fully withdraw US troops from Syria, he has since 2231

This summer marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. While the astronauts were the stars of the show, the flight controllers back in Houston has a supporting role. The Apollo 11 Mission Control Center at NASA was a historical landmark, but it wasn’t being treated as so.Four years ago, NASA chose Sonya Yungeberg and her team at Ayuda Companies to lead the restoration of the Mission Control Center.“We have been working on this project pretty diligently, starting at the research phase for about three years now,” Yungeberg says. The control center hadn’t been used since the 90’s and needed a lot of work. A team of over 100 people began restoring 50 years of history. Month after month, they sifted through photos, film and artifacts.“As you can imagine, when people go and take pictures or video, they are not looking at the stuff on the desk or under the desk,” she says.To recreate the past, they needed to go on the hunt for items that were no longer made, including old ash trays, coffee mugs, headsets and so much more. They spent months on eBay to find old replicas of the items. One huge component of the room they didn’t have to search for were the original consoles used by the flight controllers, like Director Gene Kranz.“Mr. Kranz came in one day and had been doing interviews and he turns and says, ‘Where’s my foot pedal?’ And all of us stood there dumbfounded for a second like, ‘Oh, there is a foot pedal,’ and so we went to find foot pedals,” recalls Jennie Keys with Ayuda Companies. One of their greatest accomplishments were the renderings on the big screen. “These were not available. They were not original,” Yungeberg says. “We had to recreate them and the detail in them from looking at footage, again frame by frame.”Attention to detail was mission critical. From uncovering the numbers on the walls, scraping the gum off all the chairs, matching the carpet that doesn’t exist anymore and even having the same bouquet of roses that were in the room for every launch. For the items they couldn’t track down, the team used a 3D printer to make them. After three years, the project was complete.“The plan was to have it open by the anniversary of the Moon landing, and we barely made it,” Yungeberg says. The seal of approval came from the original flight controllers who were over the moon about seeing the massive fragment of space history restored.“Gene Krantz said he didn’t quite cry, but he got a rush of emotion and he really, really loved it,” Yungeberg says.NASA congratulated the accomplishment by saying, “This is what happens when American’s come together and work hard.” 2635
