(KGTV) — Del Mar Fairgrounds and city officials met Tuesday to devise a traffic plan with one of the main arteries to the venue closed.Northbound Jimmy Durante Boulevard has been blocked off since a bluff collapse in late April.The road won't reopen until at least June 4, but the county fair opens May 31. "People are going to start going back through the neighborhood, or you're just going to sit in line," said Del Mar resident Jim Murff. Del Mar City Manager Scott Huth said plans include increased signage to instruct fairgoers to stay on Interstate 5 to the Via de la Valle exit. He said the city would also hire "flaggers" to direct drivers past the stop signs in its beachfront neighborhood, north to Via de la Valle. "Even with the flaggers that delay is not going to be as efficient as getting off (the freeway) at Via de la Valle," Huth said. Annie Pierce, a spokeswoman for the fairgrounds, said the fair would operate at least three days while northbound Jimmy Durante Boulevard is closed. She noted, however, that the opening few days of the fair are generally slower. 1107

Danish inventor Peter Madsen has been found guilty of the mutilation and murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall, and sentenced to life in prison.He was also found guilty of the indecent handling of a corpse and "sexual relations other than intercourse of a particularly dangerous nature," evidenced by stab wounds inside and outside Wall's genital area.Wall, a promising 30-year-old journalist, was last seen boarding Madsen's submarine in Copenhagen on August 10 last year when she had planned to interview him for an upcoming article.Instead she disappeared, her torso washed up on August 21 on an island near Copenhagen. Her head and legs were found weeks later.Madsen consistently denied charges of murder and sexual assault, claiming Wall died by accident from carbon dioxide poisoning, although he admitted to dismembering her body and tossing it into the sea in a state of panic.Asked on Monday if he wanted to make a last statement before the jury went into deliberation, he said, "If anything, I am sorry about what happened."  1048

Death Wish Coffee Company is issuing a recall of their nitro brew cans because of the potential growth of a deadly toxin.According to the Food and Drug Administration, the company recalled 11oz. Death Wish Nitro Cold Brew cans because the current process could lead to the growth and production of botulin.Botulism is a potentially fatal form of food poisoning and can cause symptoms like weakness, dizziness, double vision, difficult breathing and more.They have halted the production of the Nitro Cold Brew until an additional step in the manufacturing process is implemented.They have also removed cans from the comapny's online stores.The company said they will make sure everyone who bought the product on their website receives a full refund within 60 days.So far, no illnesses have been reported. 811

David Rush loves breaking world records; as a matter of fact, he has over 150 entries in the Guinness Book of World Records.This week, Rush’s latest foray into the world records book was for most targets hit with a single-shot Nerf gun. In one minute, Rush hit the target 24 times, breaking his previous record of 19.Rush said that he previously set the record unofficially at 24, but it did not count as the video he used to document his attempt did not take.With the Nerf gun being “single-shot,” Rush is required to reload between each shot.Rush says he uses his record-breaking attempts to promote STEM education. DEL MAR (KGTV) - Beachgoers are asked to stay away from a section of shoreline near 8th Street in Del Mar because of a sewage spill Sunday.Del Mar city officials said a leak was reported around 11:30 this morning. Sewage was flowing out of a manhole near 8th Street, they said. A blockage in the sewer line caused about 4,200 gallons of sewage to seep out of the manhole and flow onto the beach. The blockage was fixed around 1 p.m., city officials said. People are asked to stay out of the water between 7th Street and 9th Street for the next 72 hours because of impacts to water quality. City officials will continue to test the water. 670
