SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Four rescued sea lion pups and a northern fur seal were released back into the ocean after rehabilitating at SeaWorld.The fur seal was rescued on Mission Beach on Dec. 30, 2019, and the four sea lion pups came into SeaWorld's care over the past two months. All the animals were malnourished and dehydrated, animal care experts said.During their rehabilitation, the animals doubled in weight and were given a clean bill of health by SeaWorld veterinarians. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Drone video of a Pacific Beach man's search and rescue of his blind pet chameleon plays out like the perfect Hollywood action sequence.Vince Kay Vera says his pet chameleon, "Pete," is temporarily blind due to an infection. "He doesn't normally act like this. Since there was no roof access, Vera enacted a daring rescue using his drone and some rope. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Harbor Police were searching for a vandal Monday who set off a panic at an upscale steak house along the Embarcadero.Customers took cover under tables and ran for the exits at Ruth’s Chris Steak House Sunday night when projectiles smashed through at least two of the restaurant’s bay-facing windows. Someone inside the restaurant shouted “gun,” prompting fears of an active shooter, customers told 10News.“It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever been through,” said Joey Giacalone, a long-time patron and former co-owner of the Venetian Restaurant in Point Loma. “I mean everyone is diving under tables. They sent us through the kitchen. Because again, no one knew what information was really out there. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - For three days, faith organizations from across the country will be in Point Loma for the San Diego National Church Safety & Security Conference hosted by Rock Church.The conference has been held for the last nine years and aims to help churches, synagogues and mosques become safer by providing tips and tools to better prepare for attacks, like mass shootings.Several topics will be discussed including how to work with law enforcement, incident reporting, emergency evacuations and more.There are also many vendors on hand, offering products and services which include surveillance systems, background checking and first aid supply kits.Organizers hope attendees will take away three main points. “Do something, don’t just do nothing. A lot of churches have anything in place, ” said Rock Church safety director Mike Diggs, who spent 20 years in law enforcement. “The other thing is, we want you to learn how to keep children safe at your establishment,” he continued. “And the third is to prepare for a critical incident, active shooter situation, natural disaster.”The event goes on until Friday.
