I’ve seen parents who have not been able to potty train a child at 4 years old, and these people come through these lines that hurts my heart.”In June of 2019, at a National Press Club event, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler said Flint’s water is safe to drink.“We test their water on a regular basis. We’re working with the local city, as well as the state,” Wheeler said. “We’re still providing bottled drinking water to people if they need it, but at this point, the water quality in Flint, Michigan is safe to drink.”But in Flint, trust in the water and the government has run dry.“Even though they say it’s safe to drink, we still are afraid of drinking the water,” said Steven Atkins, a Flint resident."It’s something that we have to have. It’s important that we need it, but now we just can’t trust it,” said resident VanNessa Taylor.In August, the state of Michigan agreed to a 0 million settlement with those impacted by the water crisis, and 80 percent of the money will go to children.Jones says that money will only go so far. Transparency must bring back trust.“That’s where we are,” she said. “This was a marriage and you cheated on me for your benefit, not for my benefit.”Jones says the pandemic has made giving bottled water away even more difficult. She’s faced a shortage of volunteers to give away the water to the cars that come through. She says the lines grow outside her community center each week, six years after the Flint water crisis first began.However, Jones says she will continue to fill trunk after trunk until the cars no longer need to come through.“This city has got to get back whole again. (KGTV) - Residents of a small mobile home park across the street from the proposed Newland Sierra development, Measure B on the March ballot, say they fear a "yes" vote to approve the project could do irreparable damage to their community.Deer Springs Oaks is made up of 32 mobile homes off Deer Springs Road, directly across the street from the Newland Sierra site. That plan, if voters approve, would allow for around 2,100 new homes, along with open space and infrastructure changes. Residents of Deer Springs Oaks, funded by the nearby Golden Door Spa, have been making the case to voters that Measure B will make a bad traffic situation worse and create a dangerous trap in a wildfire zone. But they also worry that the project could have a more direct impact on their homes. The building of Newland Sierra would require the widening of Deer Springs Road, as well as changes to the nearby interchange with I-15. While Newland Sierra developers say these will not affect the mobile home park, the residents say they are not getting any guarantees from Newland Sierra, the County, or CalTrans."We don't know what they're going to do, how they're going to do it," said resident Georgeann Higgins. "They're so arrogant as to not inform us. These are our homes." Lawyers representing many of the residents obtained plans for some of the alternatives being considered by CalTrans. At least two would cause major changes to Deer Springs Oaks, including the possibility of residents losing property and a road being moved to go through the center of the complex."They impact the park big time," said resident Tony Eason. "They would destroy the park."A spokesperson from Newland Sierra told 10News that the maps being used by the residents are outdated. He sent 10News at statement: “This is just another desperate attempt by the Golden Door Spa and its army of lawyers to try to confuse and scare voters. This alternative was one of more than a dozen road improvement alternatives that was studied. It was ultimately rejected by CalTrans and is no longer an option. The real truth is that Measure B will create affordably priced homes for working families with open space, parks and trails - a better choice than the current General Plan that permits a two million square foot mega-commercial development, mansions and parking lots." ESCONDIDO, Calif (KGTV) -- A Palomar Water delivery man is being credited for saving the life of an elderly woman who fell and couldn't get up to call for help. On Monday, Marco Perea showed up to deliver water for his 88-year-old customer in Escondido. When he knocked on her door, he could hear her, but she wouldn't come to the door. After several attempts to get her to open the door, she was able to tell him that she'd fall on Sunday afternoon and hadn't been able to get up since then. Perea called 911 and paramedics and firefighters were able to make entry into the apartment. The woman was rushed to the hospital. Perea says the woman does have a caregiver, but only from Monday through Fridays. The woman's condition is still unknown. 755

So back then, we could get traveling nurses, we could get registry nurses, we could hire more nurses locally," Van Gorder said. "Today, this is a national situation and we cannot recruit travelers, we cannot recruit registry nurses, and unfortunately, a number of our healthcare providers are also getting sick."Van Gorder said the county has 24 staffed ICU beds left, out of about 670 available. He added that as hospitals get full and resources are strained, the type of care for anyone needing hospital care will change to crisis care.The top two floors of the Escondido hospital have been set up to serve as an FMS site. The site includes 202 beds that can be used for patients that don't require ICU care. The site could take in patients from other county hospitals that become overwhelmed, Dr. Omar Khawaja, the Chief Medical Officer for Palomar Health, told ABC 10News a few weeks ago."It could be beds that we would offload some of the less sick patients from other systems into there so they can handle the sicker patients; we don’t have a solid plan for it yet," he said.California's cumulative ICU bed capacity hit 1.1% on Wednesday, with the Southern California region at 0%. Three other regions were also under the state's regional stay-at-home orders activated after a region dips under 15% ICU capacity.San Diego County reported 348 coronavirus ICU cases on Wednesday and an additional 2,598 COVID-19 cases.Van Gorder said the county and hospitals project that hospitalizations will continue to grow and peak on Jan. 10, 2021, with about 1,827 patients, and ICU cases will peak on Jan. 11, with about 483 patients."Today, the governor announced the federal medical station at Palomar Medical Center is going to be activated. It's a developing situation. We'll share more information as we get it.
