Pizza Hut will replace Papa John's as the official pizza of the NFL.The announcement comes a day after Papa John's said it would end its sponsorship of the league. Papa John's, which last fall blamed the NFL's response to player protests for slumping sales, will focus on its partnerships with individual teams. The league's deal with Pizza Hut is for four years, and is worth more than the Papa John's deal, a source familiar with the agreement told CNN. The agreement gives Pizza Hut, which is owned by Yum Brands, an array of exclusive marketing rights."We are thrilled to have Pizza Hut, an industry leader and one of America's favorite brands, as an official league sponsor," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. The sponsorship will roll out with the upcoming NFL Draft in April.Artie Starrs, the president of Pizza Hut U.S., said in a statement that the sponsorship potential was "endless. He said it would be "great fun for Pizza Hut, the NFL and everyone who loves pizza and football."Papa John's said Tuesday that its parting with the league was mutual. The company reported that its North American sales were down 3.9% from a year ago.  1173

Parents everywhere are looking for hot holiday toys — especially online. Unfortunately, so are computerized "Grinch Bots", which buy up huge amounts of the popular toys so they can be resold by scalpers at 3rd party websites with greatly marked-up prices."Grinch Bots" are able to search websites and grab the toys faster than consumers. It is such a concern that U.S. Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) is pushing Congress to pass the "Stopping Grinch Bots Act of 2018."The proposed legislation would give the FTC authority to track and prosecute scalpers who use "Grinch Bots."Schumer's office found that, last year, "Grinch Bots" contributed to "sold out" status online for several popular toys which then showed up on sites like Ebay with inflated prices: 787

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A night of peaceful protests in Philadelphia gave way to more unrest and some demonstrators clashed with police after a Black man was killed by officers in a shooting caught on video.Police say Walter Wallace Jr. was wielding a knife and ignored orders to drop the weapon before officers fired shots at him Monday afternoon. The lawyer for the Wallace family says they had called for an ambulance to get their son help with a mental health crisis, not for police intervention.“I find it extremely, extremely emotionally taxing to think about calling for assistance and wind up with the people who you called killing you. I can’t even conceive the concept,” said the family’s attorney, Shaka Johnson.Tuesday night, about 500 people upset by the 27-year-old’s death marched to a police station, where they were met by officers with riot shields. Police say some of the demonstrators threw debris at officers, and two were injured. There were sporadic reports of arrests in other areas and video showed people streaming into stores and stealing goods as they left on the opposite side of the city from where Wallace was shot.Following the night of unrest, a White House statement asserted that it was another consequence of what the administration called “Liberal Democrats’ war against the police.”The shooting victim’s father, Walter Wallace Sr., told CNN on Tuesday that he wants any looting or violence in his son's name to stop in the city.“It’s not going to solve anything,” he told Chris Cuomo. “It’s just going to make things worse and my son wouldn’t want that. I want it done by the legal way.” 1627

Philonise Floyd, a brother of George Floyd, challenged Congress to "stop the pain" during an appearance at a House Judiciary hearing on policing practices.During his opening statement, Philonise Floyd recalled watching the bystander video of his brother's arrest — the video that shows a police officer kneeling on his neck for more than eight minutes. George Floyd later died in police custody."I can't tell you the kind of pain you feel when you watch something like that. When you watch your big brother, who you looked up to your whole entire life die, die begging for his mom?" Philonise Floyd said. "I'm tired. I'm tired of pain. Pain you feel when you watch something like that."Police originally took George Floyd into custody for allegedly using a countefeit bill to buy to but tobacco at a Minneapolis convenience store."He didn't deserve to die over ," Philonise Floyd said. "I'm asking you, is that what a black man's worth? Twenty dollars? This is 2020. Enough is enough."He added that he hoped his brother's death would not be in vain."Please listen to the call I'm making to you now. To the calls of our family and the calls ringing out the streets across the world," Philonise Floyd said. "People of all backgrounds, genders and races have come together to demand change. Honor them. Honor George and make the necessary changes that make law enforcement the solution and not the problem."Floyd is one of about a dozen witnesses to testify during the hearing Wednesday. He'll be joined by Floyd family attorney Benjamin Crump. Other civil rights and activist leaders are also expected to testify. Also expected to testify are Dan Bongino — a former Secret Service agent and ally of President Donald Trump — and other supporters of current police practices, according to ABC News. The hearing comes a day after George Floyd was buried in Houston as largely peaceful demonstrations continue in his name in dozens of major cities across the country. Floyd died in police custody on Memorial Day after bystander video showed a police officer, Derek Chauvin kneeling on his neck for more than eight minutes. Four officers face charges in connection with Floyd's death, including Chauvin, who faces a second-degree murder charge. The hearing also comes after Democrats introduced the Justice in Policing Act — a bill that proposes several changes to policing practices in the wake of Floyd's death. Among the changes proposed in the legislation is the limiting of legal protections for police, the creation of a national database of excessive-force incidents and the banning of police choke holds. 2618
