SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Google will launch its new music service next week, U.S. media reported on Friday.In an emailed invitation, Google said it will hold an event called "These Go to Eleven" next Wednesday in Los Angeles, which is expected to be the debut of Google Music, tech news website The Verge reported.Google is reported to be adding new features over the current version of its music service, such as a MP3 music store with connection to its social network Google+.According to a separate report from technology news site CNET on Friday, Google has not yet got licensing deals with all four of the major labels -- Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI.Google introduced a beta version of its music service called Music Beta in May, enabling users to upload their entire music libraries for free to Google servers and stream songs from any browser or Android-based devices.Since the search giant failed to come to license agreements with major music labels at the time, Music Beta is essentially a massive cloud storage hard drive.

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- Logitech, a provider of personal peripherals for computers and other digital platforms, said its production of Google TV was a "big mistake," giving a major blow to Google's aspiration to change the traditional TV experience, U.S. media reported on Friday.According to technology news site The Verge, at a recent analyst and investor meeting, Logitech chief executive officer Guerrino De Luca said the launch of Logitech Revue (with Google TV set-top box) last year was "a mistake of implementation of a gigantic nature."The project cost the company more than 100 million U.S. dollars in operating profit.He said the company had "brought closure to the Logitech Revue saga" and has "no plans to introduce another box to replace Revue" after the inventory runs out this quarter.The CEO also predicted that Google TV will have a chance sometime in the future, but it would be a "grandchild of Google TV " that would do it. Logitech has no plans to help make that happen.Launched during the holiday shopping season last year, the Logitech Revue with Google TV system was criticized for being pricey and unpolished although it gives consumers a streamlined experience of traditional TV content and online media. In August, Logitech slashed the price from 249 dollars to 99 dollars.Last month, Google introduced a redesigned Google TV after sales of the first version did not meet expectations.In April, Logitech reported that Revue with Google TV set-top box and related gear only brought five million dollars in sales during the first quarter of this year, 72 percent less than the company had expected.However, support from some leading TV manufacturers may still help Google fulfill its TV plan. ROME, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- China is playing its part in projects of the United Nations to improve global food security under the framework of South-South Cooperation (SSC), the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said on Tuesday.FAO recently co-signed two new tripartite agreements with China, Liberia and Senegal respectively to support implementation of a series of food security initiatives and projects in Liberia and Senegal, the organization said in a press release.The Rome-based food agency said the agreements were signed in the context of the Strategic Alliance between FAO and China on SSC in support of programs for food and nutrition security in selected countries.The funding provided through the new agreement comes from a FAO-China Trust Fund of 30 million U.S. dollars, it said.Under the agreement with Liberia, China will contribute over one million dollars and provide technical assistance through 24 Chinese experts and technicians to support implementation of the country's National Program for Food Security over a two-year period.In Senegal, China will provide assistance through 26 experts and technicians."At a time when continued economic uncertainties are having an impact on the flow of traditional North-South development assistance, South-South Cooperation is creating and building on partnerships that support the direct exchange of financial and technical contributions between developing countries," said Laurent Thomas, FAO Assistant Director-General, Technical Cooperation Department."FAO's experience with South-South Cooperation has shown that the knowledge and skills of technical experts and field technicians from the (global) South have made an invaluable contribution to efforts to modernize small-scale agriculture throughout the developing world," he added.FAO's SSC initiative was launched in 1996 to provide technical support to country-level action on food insecurity.According to the organization, a total of 47 tripartite agreements have been signed to provide technical assistance among developing countries in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, and over 1,500 experts and technicians have been fielded in the framework of various food security initiatives.In addition to the Strategic Alliance with China, letters of intent for SSC Strategic Alliance have also been signed so far with Argentina and Indonesia.

BEIJING, Nov. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Kids with a depressed father tend to have more behavior issues than those with a happy father, a latest US study shows.The study, published in the journal Pediatrics, used data from home interviews with almost 22,000 families. All of them had a child aged between five and 17, and both a mother and father living at home, according to a Reuters report Tuesday.After analyzing the data, researchers found 11 percent of the children with a depressed father had problems at home or at school, whereas only six percent of those with a happy father had such problems.This is one of the first large-scale studies focusing on the connection between depressed fathers and children's behavior, said study author Michael Weitzman from the New York University School of Medicine.In addition, the study echoed the previous finding that mothers' depression could increase children's emotional and behavior problems.It was reported that 19 percent of the children in the study struggled emotionally and behaviorally if their mother was depressed."Parents who are depressed tend to engage less with their children, tend to display less positive behaviors, and display more harsh, negative and critical behaviors," said Jeremy Pettit, a psychologist not involved in the study, cited by Reuters.
