Opening your own business can sound nearly impossible, but with the help of technology and Amazon, a Las Vegas family of five is cashing in thousands of dollars by simply coming up with T-shirt designs.Like in any home, members of the Reil family are always on the computer. But this is work. The youngest of the Reils, 14-year-old Jake, just finished designing this logo for a T-shirt that will eventually sell on Amazon.Each member of the Reil family owns their own business through Merch By Amazon. It started to replace real income with father Ken Reil even leaving his graphic design job and now working from home. Right now, their highest selling shirt can bring in anywhere from to a day. Mother Janalyn Reil is taking the opportunity to teach her kids a bigger lesson on finances. "It's a great life lesson for them to learn that so young and see that they can have their own business," she said. So what are they doing with the money? (KGTV) -- A 63 year old man is grateful to be alive Saturday night after his sailboat capsizes and he was left swimming for his survival.Andrea Aria was on a trip back from Catalina, “I’m alive for the grace of God. Aria sat down with 10 News and talked about the horrific details, “I didn’t even see the wave until I made the turn and it was too late it was up on me”. The wave tipped the boat, he tried holding on, “I let go and went back in the water and I went under the boat and the boat went over me once then twice and the propellers are going”.During that moment he didn’t realize the injuries he was getting, “I didn’t feel, the adrenaline the cold water the salt all I know I couldn’t move my fingers I knew my hands were messed up “. Two casts on his hands because doctors say, he cut tendons leaving his fingers unable to move. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A woman was arrested in Oceanside after trying to smuggle methamphetamine with her 7-year-old in the car. Border Patrol agents pulled the woman over near the Oceanside Harbor Interstate 5 exit just after 4 p.m. Tuesday. After becoming suspicious of the driver’s behavior, agents found more than 48 pounds of the drug inside a duffle bag in the trunk. One winter afternoon last year, Duane Engebretson sat in his stepdaughter's hospital room at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, trying to figure out how she could escape.Alyssa Gilderhus, 18 and a senior in high school, had been a patient at Mayo for about two months, ever since having a ruptured brain aneurysm on Christmas Day.Mayo neurosurgeons saved her life, but she and her parents were unhappy with the care she was receiving in the rehabilitation unit, and they say they repeatedly asked for her to be transferred.But they say Mayo refused to let her transfer to another hospital, even after a lawyer wrote a letter asking Mayo to make the arrangements.Alyssa and her family began to suspect that Mayo was trying to get a guardian appointed to make medical decisions for her. Now that you've opened gifts, it's about time to start clearing out those holiday boxes and decorations.But you may want to think twice before you dump them in the garbage or toss them out on the curb. Your trash could make you a target for thieves and some of those items you're trying to recycle may be hazardous.To be safe, start with putting up those new gifts away from any windows in your home. Then, cut up the boxes your gifts came in and put them at the bottom of your trash or recycling bins. This is an easy way to prevent thieves from knowing what you got for the holidays.When it comes to recycling, this is a good time to check out your town or city's recycling rules. Accepted items do vary so depending on where you live, but there are some standard items you should recycle.First, cardboard that's clean and flattened, including shoe and shipping boxes.
