SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police identified the man suspected of a sexual assault in a Mission Beach alley as 40-year old Philemon Shark from Seattle. According to San Diego police, a 24-year old woman was walking by herself on Bayside Lane around 8:45 a.m. on Sunday when Shark attacked her. The woman screamed for help, and several residents ran out and stopped Shark before he ran away.Officers caught up to him in a breezeway and took him into custody. Shark was booked on felony sexual assault charges and outstanding warrants from Washington state, according to police.Police said Shark had been in San Diego for a few months before the assault. 653

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - New plans for a development in the Bay Park neighborhood are aimed at providing "transit-oriented" homes amid the region's housing crunch.Protea Properties has plans for the 3.5-acre lot right off Interstate 5, between Clairemont Drive and Morena Boulevard. The site is located across from the future Blue Line Trolley Station.The development director of the project confirms the development includes 156 apartments and 40,000-square-feet of retail and restaurant spaces. Some community members are concerned with the current plans and tell 10News they hope their concerns will be heard and changes will be made. "We're trying to back the city off from slamming us with density and trying to get a project that meets everybody's needs," local James Lamattery said.Lamattery says the community is fighting for more affordable housing units and lower building heights. Right now, the plans call for two, four-story buildings and 16 apartment units for affordable housing. The city is reviewing plans before they vote on required permits. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person is dead after his SUV careened off Interstate 5 near Pacific Beach Tuessday.A driver was traveling on northbound I-5 near Garnet Ave. just before 2 p.m. when a witness tells 10News the white Toyota RAV 4's passenger-side wheels became caught on the freeway guardrail. As the vehicle continued it fell off I-5, traveled down an embankment, and landed on its top on Garnet Ave. below the freeway. It wasn't immediately clear how the vehicle lost control to start, California Highway Patrol said.RELATED: Driver hits pedestrian, flips car in Pacific BeachThe male driver was severely injured in the crash and died at the scene, CHP says.Video from Sky10 showed the white SUV overturned in the center of the road and surrounded by debris. Police closed both directions of Garnet and Balboa Avenues to investigate and clear the scene. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Officers responding to a reported car crash in Sherman Heights early Thursday morning found a man in one of the vehicles suffering from gunshot wounds.At around 12 a.m., San Diego police officers were dispatched to 27th and K streets after a vehicle crash.When officers arrived, they found a car had slammed into at least one parked car.Inside one of the cars was a man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries, according to SDPD officials.Police learned the driver was heading south in the 300 block of 27th Street when some area residents reported hearing gunfire. The driver eventually collided with the parked vehicle in the 200 block of 27th Street.The victim was identified as a 25-year-old Hispanic male.SDPD’s Homicide Unit is investigating the incident. 835
