WASHINGTON, D.C. — Despite a late-night tweet in which President Donald Trump attacked Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and called on him to declare a special session in the hopes of overturning election results in the state, Georgia's Elecoral College vote went off without a hitch on Monday and the state awarded all 16 of its votes to president-elect Joe Biden.In a tweet early Monday morning, Trump called Kemp both a "fool" and a "clown," Trump wrote that his supporters should demand the governor “call a Special Session and open up signature verification, NOW.”Without proof, Trump claimed that if the state legislator doesn’t call a special session in an attempt to appoint new Electoral College voters in his favor, it could negatively affect the GOP’s chances of holding on to their two U.S. Senate seats in Georgia’s runoff elections.“Otherwise, could be a bad day for two GREAT Senators on January 5th,” wrote Trump.Georgia’s two Senate seats will determine which party controls the chamber come next year. Democrats would need to win both seat to take control back.Despite the threats, Georgia convened its noon ET Electoral College vote and granted all 16 votes to Biden. That vote was held without incident or interruption.However, while Georgia electors were casting their ballots, Republican electors held their own vote in a separate room of the Capitol, according to the Washington Post and WSB-TV, wrongly claiming that the election has yet to be decided. That vote is inconsequential and will have no legal bearing.The next big date in the 2020 election will be Jan. 6, when the House and Senate will hold a joint session to count the electoral votes. Biden will then be sworn in on Jan. 20, Inauguration Day.Trump’s tweet is only the latest in the ongoing feud between him and the governor. The Washington Post detailed the feud in an article Monday that says Trump is “furious with Kemp for not heeding his calls to question the integrity of the state’s election results." Since the election, The Post reports Trump has berated Kemp on phone calls and said the governor was losing all his popularity for not fully supporting him.Last week, Georgia recertified President-elect Joe Biden won the state after multiple recounts showed the Democrat defeated Trump by more than 11,000 votes. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Dr. Deborah Birx is warning Americans who traveled for Thanksgiving and attended a large gathering that they should assume they were infected with the coronavirus.The coordinator of the White House Coronavirus Task Force is advising those who gathered with numerous loved ones for the holiday to get tested in next few days.“If your family traveled, you have to assume that you are exposed and you became infected and you really need to get tested in the next week and you need to avoid anyone in your family with comorbidities or (who is) over 65,” Birx told “Face the Nation” on Sunday.Birx also says the task force is even asking families to mask indoors if they chose to gather during Thanksgiving and others went across the country or even into the next state.“And if you're over 65 or you have comorbidities and you gathered at Thanksgiving, if you develop any symptoms, you need to be tested immediately because we know that our therapeutics work best, both our antivirals and our monoclonal antibodies, work best very early in disease,” said Birx.During her interview, Birx referred to the current spike in COVID-19 cases as the nation’s “third wave” and compared it to second wave we saw over the summer.“We saw what happened post Memorial Day,” said Birx. “Now we are deeply worried about what could happen post-Thanksgiving because the number of cases, 25,000 versus 180,000 a day, that's why we are deeply concerned.”Birx says she’s worried about how last week’s holiday gatherings may increase the case count even more, especially in states with fewer COVID-19 restrictions. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration has sued former national security adviser John Bolton to block the publication of a book that the White House says contains classified information.The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, follows warnings from President Donald Trump that Bolton could face a “criminal problem” if he doesn’t halt plans to publish the book.The administration has also said the former adviser did not complete a pre-publication review to ensure that the manuscript did not contain classified material.The suit asks a judge to direct Bolton to notify his publisher that he was not authorized to release “The Room Where It Happened,” to further delay the release date of the book, and to instruct the publisher to take any and all steps to retrieve and dispose of any copies of the book that may be in the possession of any third party.The complaint also asks a judge to order that “all monies, gains, profits, royalties and other advantages” that Bolton and his agents receive from the book be placed in a “constructive trust for the benefit of the United States.Bolton’s attorney, Chuck Cooper, has said Bolton worked for months with classification specialists to avoid releasing classified material.Cooper has accused the White House of using national security information as a pretext to censor Bolton.As of Tuesday, Amazon listed the book as being released next week, on June 23. 1449
