SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The door-to-door salesman accused of taking swings at a Pacific Beach woman and a string of threatening outbursts while canvassing neighborhoods is behind bars.An arrest warrant was issued on Dec. 6, 2019, for 45-year-old Corey Lamont Terry on felony charges of making criminal threats and attempted burglary, according to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. According to San Diego Police, Terry was arrested by Sheriff's deputies on Jan. 9. Shawn Takeuchi told 10News. Terry had reportedly been visiting neighborhoods in Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach, claiming to be raising money for charity.Several people told 10News he would become aggressive when he was denied donations."He chases me across the street, screaming that he's going to kill me," Sarah Jarzabek told 10News. "Scared to death, honestly."Jarzabek recorded video of a confrontation with Terry on Nov. 2, 2019. SDPD positively identified the man who reportedly swung at Jarzabek as Terry. He was detained and questioned the next day, but ultimately released.“It’s a little bit concerning he’s still out there,” said John Christenson, an Ocean Beach resident who said he encountered Terry on Oct. 16, 2019. “Basically said that he did want to knock me out, was getting in my face, calling me all kinds of names. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The man police say hit and killed a pedestrian on a South Bay road in late July has been arrested.According to police, Carlos Franco, 20, turned himself in to investigators Tuesday and was booked into jail for vehicular manslaughter.San Diego Police on July 30 received a report of a crash on Del Sol Boulevard and Dennery Road at 7:03 a.m.RELATED: Pedestrian hit, killed on south San Diego street  Police say Franco struck a 66-year-old man, who was crossing the street at the time of the crash. The man, who hasn’t been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.Following the crash, Franco stayed on scene. Police say drugs or alcohol weren’t factors in the crash. 712

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Choir San Diego has filled the community with music, funded dreams, and kept African American history alive for three decades.The group started with a local alliance of ministers from different denominations who came together for an annual concert to raise funds for students aspiring to a career in visual and performing arts, according to the choir director Kenneth Anderson."I think they are woefully undervalued in our country the power of art and how it can connect and communicate and bring people together when we're so driven apart," 20-year choir member Dale Fleming said.In 1990, the singers decided to created the MLK Community Choir so they could sing year-round.Andersen said, "It was non-audition but somehow all of these different timbres and levels of musicianship come together to make a beautiful sound."The religious tone of the group has changed over the years. "Some don't really believe at all but we all believe in the power of music," Fleming said.They still sing gospel, and write their own hymns to keep Black history alive."A majority of the spirituals that survived were code songs. When they sang about leaders in the bible, especially Moses, but Jesus and God, that was code for Harriet Tubman," Anderson explained.The group has flourished, touring through seven countries, creating and selling CDs, even singing for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican in 2004. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The mother of two children killed in a Rancho Bernardo condo fire last month wants to meet the person who called 911, a family friend says.7-year-old Isabella Lopez and her 10-year-old brother Christos died in a fire at Bernardo Terrace, October 28.The children’s funeral is November 10 and the friend who has been helping plan it says the kids’ mom wants to thank the 911 caller for giving her a final moment with her dying son.RELATED: Two children dead, father in critical condition after Rancho Bernardo fire“She didn’t get it with her daughter, but she got it with her son and that means the world to her,“ said Sam Trink, “If they didn’t call when they did, she would not have gotten an extra three minutes with her son.”The funeral is being held at Grace Point church in Del Mar Heights.
