A man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a woman with a biscuit in Nashville. An affidavit from Metro Nashville Police said officers were called to 2301 Murfreesboro Pike on Aug. 19 in response to a domestic disturbance. A Google Maps search shows a BP gas station at that address.A woman told police that she was in the backseat of her boyfriend’s car when the suspect threw a biscuit that hit her in the face. The victim reported being in pain after the incident.When they left the area, the suspect allegedly charged after her and punched the hood of the car, leaving a large dent. He then yelled, “I’ll kill you mother f***er,” the police report said. The victim said she was “very much in fear” and believed she would have been hurt had her boyfriend and another person not intervened. Police later arrested Jeffrey L. Tomerlin on a charge of public intoxication. Officers said he smelled of alcohol and his level of intoxication was so high that he may have been a danger to himself. The affidavit also said he was an “unreasonable annoyance” to people in the area. He was eventually taken to an area hospital because police said he kept banging his head on the patrol car windows.  1245

A man accused of gunning down an international student at the University of Utah on Monday has been captured after an overnight manhunt, authorities in Salt Lake City said.Both Austin Boutain and his wife, Kathleen, are in custody, police said. The couple also were wanted for questioning in connection to the death of a man several days ago in Golden, Colorado, according to University of Utah Police Chief Dale Brophy.Austin Boutain, 24, was arrested Tuesday, Salt Lake City police said in a tweet.The victim in Golden, who has yet to be identified, died within the last three to five days in a recreational vehicle, Brophy said.Golden Police Department Capt. Joe Harvey stressed that the Boutains are persons of interest, and not suspects, in the Colorado death. Details of the death were "cloudy," he said, but there was a nexus between the Utah and Colorado cases and police would like to interview the couple."We just know they were here," he said, speaking in front of the RV where the body was found.Kathleen Boutain, 23, was booked into the Salt Lake City jail until Golden authorities can question her, Brophy said. A German cruise line, that is part of Carnival Cruises, pushed back its restart date to Nov. 1.In a press release, AIDA Cruises said the ship AIDAmar would set off on a seven-day voyage to the Canary Islands."Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the conditions are currently not in place in Germany's neighboring European countries, especially in the north with Norway and Denmark or the Baltic states," the company said. "For many distant destinations outside of Europe, the Federal Republic of Germany has issued a travel warning, or the respective countries have prohibited calls of cruise ships until 2021. As a result, the company has canceled its previously announced cruises for September. It has updated its fall and winter 2020-2021 program to provide its guests and sales partners additional time to plan and book vacations for a safe and enjoyable return to cruise holidays."The company said they canceled its previously scheduled September and October cruises due to the coronavirus pandemic and updated its schedule for fall and winter."Even though it is currently not possible for cruise ships to call at Norway, which is so important for our voyages to the north, we are confident that the first AIDA ships from Germany will be able to travel to Northern Europe again at the beginning of 2021," said Felix Eichhorn, president of AIDA Cruises in the press release.Cruises will resume sailing operations in the western Mediterranean with AIDAstella on Dec. 12, the company said. 1495

A California attorney who was rescued after a fall in Joshua Tree National Park says he survived for five days with little water and supplies before being rescued.Paul Hanks of Santee, California drove to the park to hike on his 54th birthday last week. He had intended to spend half a day ‘"bouldering" before returning home.Hanks’ plans took a painful turn when he slipped and fell about 20 feet, injuring his leg.“It happened. I slipped and it was just, having not slipped in 45 years, it was instant and total shock,” Hanks said.Hanks crawled for miles, yelling for help. Eventually, he settled under a Joshua Tree for the night, hoping he could throw some loose dirt on himself for warmth. Hanks quickly ran out of food and supplies.“By the very first night, I was drinking my own urine. I had drank all of the water in my bottle and was refilling my bottle with my own urine.”Hanks said the decision saved his life. He later found rainwater to drink and ate a cactus.“It gave me some physical energy and it gave me some hope and it made me believe this is giving me the 24 hours I'm looking for,” said Hanks.On Hanks’ fifth day in the park, search and rescue teams found him.“These three angels appeared out of nowhere and I was... I was shocked,” Hanks said. “I just couldn't believe it. I didn't want to say I had given up. Multiple times I had written myself off as dead. That I was never going to see another human being again and they showed up.”The rescue team gave Hanks Gatorade and took him to safety. Hanks is being treated at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Family members say he’ll have several surgeries for fractures on his leg, heel, forehead and pelvis. Hanks is expected to make a full recovery. 1762
