SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — This weekend is filled with events celebrating San Diego Pride, fun at the fairgrounds, and virtual events to keep locals busy at home.San Diego Pride's Spirit of Stone Wall Rally and Pride Live events will celebrate the region's LGBTQ community and leaders who have contributed to the community with awards, presentations, and entertainment during what would traditionally be the city's Pride weekend.The Natural History Museum is continuing its Friday night trivia events with a virtual rendition with the same flavor of the museum's rooftop event at home.And, of course, with beaches open, locals can safely soak in the rays on the sand, or head to the Del Mar Fairgrounds for a bite of fair food throughout the weekend.(As a reminder, residents are encouraged to stay home if they feel ill and avoid large gatherings with people not from the same household. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three San Diego County schools have been recognized as 2019 National Blue Ribbon Schools. The award honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools. Aviara Oaks Elementary School in Carlsbad, Del Mar Hills Academy in Del Mar and Torrey Pines Elementary School in San Diego were all honored with the award. “Congratulations to these schools that have tremendous programs dedicated to, and invested in, creating state-of-the-art learning and teaching environments,” State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond said. “This recognition is well-deserved, and special thanks go to the educators and the school communities that meet students’ unique needs in order for all of their students to reach their full potential.”Schools are recognized based on school-wide student scores, subgroup student scores and graduation rates. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Police Department is looking for four instruments that were stolen from the San Diego Junior Theatre over the weekend.Junior Theater Executive Director James Saban said two guitars and two bass guitars were taken sometime Friday night or Saturday morning.They are described as a white Fender Stratocaster with a checkered strap, a red Epiphone archtop guitar, a seafoam and white Fender bass guitar and a cream Fender Mustang bass guitar.“It was my prized possession, my baby,” said Oliver Davis of his Fender Stratocaster. “So finding out it was stolen was a bummer.”Davis plays the guitar on stage as part of his character. After discovering it was missing Saturday morning, he said he and the other musicians had to rush to find replacements so they could perform their matinee.“Everyone was getting loaned instruments,” he said.The theater has filed a police report but the instruments have not yet been found.Anyone with information can call the San Diego Police Department at 619-531-2000. 1036
