BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Wu Qian, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, told a press briefing Thursday that China would neither accept nor participate in the South China Sea arbitration initiated by the Philippines.
First, China has indisputable sovereignty over the Nansha Islands and the adjacent waters, which is fully backed by historical and legal evidence. China has never acknowledged the so-called "status-quo" formed by other countries' illegal occupation of Chinese territory, and is not going to do so.
Summing up the early harvests of the Belt and Road Initiative, Xi said over 70 countries and international organizations have taken part in the grand development plan and some 30 countries have signed cooperation deals with China to jointly push forward the initiative over the past three years.
