The 96 locations, which are a mixture of Kmart and Sears branded stores, are set to close by February. The closing locations will have going out of business sales starting on Dec. 2. The footprint of Sears and Kmart will further shrink by one third with this round of closures, leaving fewer than 200 total locations nationally between the two brands. This announcement comes less than a year after more than 200 Sears and Kmart locations closed. While other retailers in recent years, such as Toys 'R' Us and RadioShack have faded away, Sears' demise would mark the end of an industry titan. The company was at one time the nation's largest retailer, selling items as small as earrings, to as big as houses. The announcement does not impact the nearly 400 locations that operate as Sears Hometown or Sears Outlet locations, which feature appliances and electronics. The leader of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah says Iran's response to its top general's killing has only just begun. He says Iran's missile attacks on bases in Iraq housing U.S. forces were a “slap” to Washington, one that sent a message. Hezbollah is a key Iranian ally. The limited Iranian strikes caused no casualties and appeared to be mainly a show of force. The Gilroy Garlic Festival shooter, Santino William Legan, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, Gilroy Police Chief Scot Smithee said Friday during a press conference.Legan's death was ruled a suicide, Smithee said, citing Nicole Lopez of the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.When the shooting first began, Legan exchanged fire with three Gilroy police officers, Smithee said."I do know that the suspect was hit multiple times by the rounds the officers fired, which put him down," he said. "It appears now, with that ruling on the cause and manner of death, that once he was down, he was able to get a round off and he shot himself.
