In recent months, states across the country have been passing laws designed to make it harder — and in some cases, nearly impossible — to get an abortion. So Shelley O'Brien, manager of The Yale Hotel in the tiny Michigan town of Yale, made an offer to anyone traveling out of their state for the procedure: Come to Michigan and stay at her hotel for free."Dear sisters that live in Alabama, Ohio, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, or any of the other states that follow with similar laws restricting access, We cannot do anything about the way you are being treated in your home-state," the post reads."But, if you can make it to Michigan, we will support you with several nights lodging, and transportation to and from your appointment," the post reads. It was a bold stance for the mother of three to take in her largely conservative town that's home to fewer than 2,000 people. But O'Brien said she felt it was important."Women should have autonomy over their own bodies," she said. "If we do not have control over our own bodies, then this is not a free world."The Yale Hotel's Facebook post has since received thousands of shares and hundreds of comments. Responses have been mostly positive, O'Brien said, though she has gotten some pushback from online trolls and others. So far, O'Brien said no one has taken her up on the offer, though she has a room ready for anyone who needs it. She said she's calling it "Jane's Room" -- a nod to Jane Roe, the pseudonym for Norma McCorvey, the plaintiff in the landmark Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade. The offer has, however, been good for business. In the weekend after she made the post on Facebook, she said she made 0 more than the week before. In the past few months, Alabama passed a near-total ban on abortion, while states including Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Ohio have passed "heartbeat" bills that ban abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be detected.Earlier this week, Republicans in the Michigan state Senate introduced 1995

Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 35 migrants as part of an operation targeting families with court-ordered removals, a Department of Homeland Security official confirmed to CNN on Tuesday. The raids were planned to target around 2,000 migrant families who had been ordered removed by an immigration judge, but the latest numbers provided by the official show the arrests fell short of that goal. 418

It has been nearly a month since 20 Democrats met for the first debate to vie for the party’s nomination in next year’s presidential election. On Tuesday and Wednesday, 20 Democrats will once again take the stage, this time in Detroit. What is differentWhile there will be 20 Democrats on the stage -- 10 each night -- one Democrat has since dropped out of the race. Rep. Eric Swalwell of California ended his bid for the presidency earlier this month. His spot on the debate stage has since been filled by Montana Gov. Steve Bullock. With this debate being aired on CNN, there will be a different set of moderators. Don Lemon, Dana Bash and Jake Tapper will conduct the debate. Unlike last month’s Miami debate, CNN has told the candidates that there will be no “show of hands or one-word, down-the-line questions.” Also different, CNN has threatened to reduce the time of candidates who are constantly interrupting. What is the sameCandidates will be given 60 seconds to answer and 30 seconds for follow ups. The requirements to qualify for the debate also remained the same, and was based off of polling and fundraising criteria.Biden back as frontrunnerVice President Joe Biden’s lead took a bit of a hit in the days following the last debate thanks to a contentious confrontation from Sen. Kamala Harris of California. Harris’ emotional rebuke of Biden’s stance on public school busing in the 70s was easily the most memorable moment of the night. It also seemed to have, at least temporarily, cut into Biden’s lead. Polls from CNN and Quinnipiac University had Biden’s polling as low as 22 percent. Harris, for her part, saw her numbers increase to above 10 percent. Biden has seen his polling number return to near 30 percent. Harris, however, has continued to poll above 10 percent, indicating that she perhaps draw some support from some of the other candidates. Biden and Harris are the two center-stage candidates for the July 31 debate. But Harris might not be Biden’s biggest concern on Wednesday. Sen. Cory Booker and Biden have been involved in a spat in recent days over criminal justice reform. Booker called Biden “an architect of mass incarceration.” This is over Biden’s support for the 1994 Crime Bill. Warren/Sanders showdownSens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are generally allies in the Senate, but on Tuesday, they will square off on stage. The two senators are vying for the support of the liberal wing of the party.Sanders and Warren have been contending for No. 2 in polling. Is it quite possible that Tuesday’s debate will consist of the moderators trying to find some daylight between the two candidates. Both candidates make income inequality a central theme of their campaigns. Both are strong proponents of Medicare-for-all. Both support increasing the national minimum wage. How candidates qualifiedTo qualify for the second round of debates, candidates had to fulfill one of two criteria: either get 65,000 donors to their campaigns, with at least 200 donors in 20 different states, or obtain at least 1% in three polls recognized as legitimate by the committee. Here are the candidates: On July 30, these candidates will be on stage: 3186

In January, the St. Louis Blues languished as the worst team in the NHL's Western Conference. On Wednesday, the Blues, led by their goaltender, defeated the Boston Bruins 4-1. The title marked the Blues' first in franchise history. St. Louis' Ryan O'Reilly scored in the 17th minute of the first period on a redirection off of a Jay Bouwmeester shot as O'Reilly's tip went through the five hole of Boston goalie Tuukka Rask. The Blues never looked back.St. Louis' goalie Jordan Binnington was impressive, stopping all but one of the 32 shots he faced. Binnington faced a flurry of shots early, He stopped 12 shots in the first period. With the Blues leading 1-0, they tacked on another goal seconds before the first intermission with a backhander from Alex Pietrangelo. Pietrangelo's goal held up as the game winner. In the second period, Brayden Schenn scored to give the Blues a three-goal cushion. St. Louis tacked on an insurance goal in the final five minutes with a goal from Zach Sanford. The Bruins scored their only goal of the game with just 2:10 left. The goal came a little bit too late to matter other than to break up Binnington's shutout. O'Reilly was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP of the playoffs. 1234

It seems like common sense, but many Americans do it. Although remote start technology has grown, thousands of cars were stolen in 2018 due to people leaving their car unattended to warm up during the winter. One insurance group is reminding Americans not to leave their cars running unattended.According to National Insurance Crime Bureau, 81,911 vehicles were stolen with the keys or fobs left in them in 2018. "We always warn consumers about the dangers of leaving a vehicle unlocked and not taking the fob or key with them, but leaving the car running with a key or fob in the vehicle is a prime target for an opportunistic thief," said NICB Chief Operating Officer Jim Schweitzer. The NICB also reminded drivers that in many states and municipalities, leaving a car with the key in the ignition and running could be against the law. For instance, in Ohio, it is a minor misdemeanor punishable by a 0 fine to leave a car running unattended on public property (such as the side of the road). In Colorado, the crime is a class B traffic infraction, punishable with a fine of up to 0. The NICB offered the following tips: Lock the vehicle, set the alarm, and take all keys or fobs.Do not leave the garage door opener in the vehicle.Take a picture of your registration on your cell phone, and do not leave the registration or other papers with personal information in the vehicle.Never leave a car unlocked and running to warm it up or while stopping for a quick cup of coffee. It only takes a moment for the opportunistic thief to jump inside and drive off. 1575
