RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) - A 20-year-old Ukrainian man was shot and killed in Ramona this week, according to Sheriff's investigators.Ivan N. Nivinskus, of Ramona, died of apparent gunshot wounds Sunday just after 8:30 p.m., investigators said. The San Diego County Medical Examiner has ruled Nivinskus's death a homicide.San Diego Sheriff's deputies said deputies were called to the 15900 block of Wood Rock Lane for reports of possible gunshots and someone yelling. (CNS) - The San Diego Humane Society's Project Wildlife Team will release a rescued mountain lion cub to her new home Friday, a little more than a month after she was found on the brink of death.The SDHS team at the organization's new Ramona Wildlife Center will transport the healthy cub to the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she will be able to grow up around other orphaned cubs her age.The cub was originally spotted by firefighters from the Vista Grande Fire Station near a road in Idyllwild on Sept. 2. She was found barely conscious, emaciated, dehydrated, weak and experiencing tremors. The state estimates around 500 mountain lions still call Southern California and the Central Coast home.According to the humane society, mountain lions typically stay with their mother until they disperse to live a solitary life at around 12-18 months of age. (KGTV) — Crews responded to a fiery plane crash at Ramona Airport, though thankfully the aircraft's occupants escaped uninjured.The crash, reported around 8 a.m., caused the aircraft to erupt into flames, according to Cal Fire San Diego, but the fire did not spread to surrounding vegetation.All occupants of the aircraft have been accounted for and were uninjured, according to officials. 412

Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, announced he is launching an investigation surrounding Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s speech at the Republican National Convention. Pompeo’s speech is set to be broadcast during Tuesday’s portion of the RNC.Castro wants to probe whether the speech violates both the Hatch Act and State Department rules.The Hatch Act is intended to limit political activities by executive branch employees other than the president and vice president. While violating the Hatch Act is not criminal, there are potential civil fines for violations.
