Former ESPN president John Skipper says he abruptly resigned from the network late last year because he was being extorted by a cocaine dealer.In an in-depth interview with The Hollywood Report's James Andrew Miller, Skipper recounted his substance abuse issues and the decision to leave the network.Skipper told Miller that he used cocaine intermittently throughout his professional life. He says the habit began before he joined ESPN in 1997, but maintained that his drug use never interfered with his work, outside of "a missed plane and a few canceled morning appointments."Skipper also said he was "unusually clever" in finding ways to buy cocaine so as not to attract attention to himself. That changed in December, when he says someone he had not dealt with before attempted to extort him for purchasing drugs."It turned out I wasn’t careful this time," Skipper told Miller.Skipper immediately informed Disney CEO Bob Iger of the threat."When I discussed it with Bob, he and I agreed that I had placed the company in an untenable position and as a result, I should resign," Skipper told Miller.On Dec. 18, Skipper shocked ESPN employees by announcing his resignation, citing substance abuse issues. FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Air travel will take even longer than previously thought to return to pre-virus levels. That's the gloomy prediction from the air transport trade association or IATA. They are pushing their forecast back by a year, to 2024. That's when they say travel will make it back to 2019 levels. "A slower recovery will put more airlines in financial peril," a release from the trade association stated. "And, as we have said many times in these briefings, government relief measures are essential."In June, air travel around the world was down 86% compared to a year earlier. Matt Bevin has opposed Kentucky teachers' rallies for pension protection and public education funding since they began, but never quite the way he did on Friday afternoon, when he told a gaggle of reporters that the strike would directly cause children to be injured, poisoned and sexually assaulted. "I guarantee you somewhere in Kentucky today a child was sexually assaulted that was left at home because there was nobody there to watch them," he said. "I guarantee you somewhere today, a child was physically harmed or ingested poison because they were home alone because a single parent didn't have enough money to take care of them."Bevin, who hours later would see his veto of an education-boosting?state budget overriden by state lawmakers, characterized the attitudes of striking teachers as cavalier and flippant about student safety. FREDERICK, Colo. – Law enforcement officials said onl Friday that Chris Watts is in protective custody and being isolated from other inmates at the Weld County jail because of the publicity the case has received and say they still have several days of work to do before Monday’s deadline for charges to be filed.Watts, 33, who has been arrested and accused of killing his wife, Shanann, and their two young daughters earlier this week in Frederick, also has declined to speak with the media for the time being at the advice of his attorney, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office said.The sheriff’s office additionally said that Watts is not currently able to receive visitors because he hasn’t been in the jail system for long enough.The Weld County coroner is conducting at least one autopsy related to the deaths of the Watts family Friday. The body believed to be Shanann’s was discovered on Anadarko property, officials said Thursday morning, and those believed to be Celeste and Bella were recovered from oil tanks nearby later Thursday, high-ranking officials said.Frederick police also said on Friday that they believe they have two or three more days of interviews to conduct related to the case. Weld County prosecutors have until 3:30 p.m. Monday to file formal charges against Watts.He is next due in court Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. to learn what formal charges he faces in the case.
