LONDON (AP) — An American tourist from Louisiana helped stop a hammer-wielding thief who unsuccessfully tried to steal the Magna Carta at Salisbury Cathedral, working in tandem with a church employee to prevent the man from escaping.Matthew Delcambre, of New Iberia, Louisiana, told The Associated Press that he and his wife Alexis were sightseeing in the southwestern English city when a man tried to shatter the glass encasing the precious manuscript in the church's Chapter House. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The U.S. Justice Department in Los Angeles announced today that it has obtained an additional .4 million for servicemembers whose vehicles were repossessed by Wells Fargo Bank in violation of federal law.Wells Fargo reached a million settlement with federal prosecutors last year over allegations it illegally repossessed more than 400 cars owned by members of the military without a court order.The settlement resolves alleged violations of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, which protects service members against certain civil proceedings that could affect their legal rights while they are in the service.The additional amount brings the total compensation under the settlement to more than .1 million and the total number of servicemembers eligible for relief to more than 860."The SCRA provides important protections and is intended to prevent unnecessary financial hardship for the brave women and men who serve in our armed forces," said acting U.S. Attorney Sandra R. Brown."Losing an automobile through an unlawful repossession while serving our country is a problem servicemembers should not have to confront. LOS ANGELES (KGTV) – Two children inside an RV involved in an hours-long chase and standoff with a domestic violence suspect were safely recovered Tuesday night, authorities reported. The children in the vehicle are said to be 11-months-old and 3-years-old. Authorities are still searching for the suspect. The driver of the RV was involved in another pursuit in Santa Clarita that was canceled for safety concerns Tuesday, KABC reported.The chase started on surface streets but the suspect later entered the 101 Freeway followed by the 170.The suspect drove at normal speeds between 60 and 70 miles per hour.
