The Senate likely now has enough votes to pass a measure blocking President Donald Trump's national emergency declaration after Sen. There's new concern about medical costs because of the coronavirus. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, we were already seeing hospital costs rising.Insurance comparison website Quote Wizard looked at a decade of data and it determined the average cost of a hospital visit went up 36% to more than ,300 a day. In some states, the increase was higher.“Why that matters right now during COVID-19 is obviously there is a stress on the healthcare system with people being sick from coronavirus but also significant numbers of people losing their jobs,” said Adam Johnson, a Quote Wizard analyst. “Millions of Americans losing their jobs and when they're losing their jobs, they're losing their employer sponsored health insurance.” Rising hospital costs are due in part to uninsured and underinsured patients that receive care. However, there's another significant contributor that could be easier to correct.“In other countries where health care systems are a little more uniform, the administrative aspect is much lower, 1 to 3% of total healthcare costs, but in the United States, that’s around 8%,” said Johnson. Hospitals did get some emergency relief funding under the CARES Act and other stimulus bills. That will help offset some of the extra COVID-care debt, but only time will tell how the crisis will impact future costs. 1335

There are many changes planned to revamp Nashville International Airport including the newly unveiled parking garage. Part of the plan is to give the airport a face lift which includes replacing the terminal carpet that surprisingly has garnered popularity. The brown carpet with its unique lines and swirly designs was installed in 2010. Earlier this year, the BNA carpet gained its own Instagram account with more than 6,500 followers and over 100 posts. Its Instagram stories is flooded with travelers tagging the account as they typically walk through the airport and show the carpet. In case you are a fan, you can purchase clothes, shoes, luggage, and phone covers with the same pattern on an online merchandise boutique called Ray Reid. The popularity also resembles the love for the iconic, retro carpet at Portland Airport before it was removed a few years ago. It also had social media accounts and countless merchandise that offered the pattern.Airport officials in Nashville are aware of the BNA carpet fame. However, it will slowly phase out by the start of the summer of 2020.By 2023, it will all be updated with either terrazzo or new (with a different pattern) carpet, according to a BNA spokesperson. The changes are all part of a bigger picture called BNA Vision. The plan will include demolishing the existing Short Term Parking Garage next month to make room for a bigger and more modern garage.Expansion is also underway for Concourse D and terminal wings, and people should start seeing visible of that in January when steel starts going up. Concourse D will add six new domestic aircraft gate, a variety of restaurants and retail options, and a live music stage. It is expected to be completed by 2020.Additionally, there will be a major renovation of the terminal lobby, which means expanding security screening checkpointsAll of the BNA Vision plan is expected to be finished by 2023. 1918

The Russian lawyer who attended a 2016 meeting at Trump Tower with members of the Trump campaign was charged by federal prosecutors in New York with obstruction of justice in a money-laundering case, according to an indictment unsealed Tuesday that highlighted her ties to the Russian government.Natalya Veselnitskaya, who gained prominence as a result of a meeting with Donald Trump Jr. and other members of the Trump campaign after he had been promised damaging intelligence on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, was indicted by the Manhattan US Attorney's office. As that case proceeded, Veselnitskaya, a member of the defense team in that matter, allegedly gave a false declaration to the federal court in New York about the Russian government's investigative findings in that case, concealing from the court that she "had participated in drafting those supposed independent investigative findings in secret cooperation with a senior Russian prosecutor," according to the indictment.Veselnitskaya is not in the US and it's unlikely that she'll ever see court or be taken into custody unless she leaves Russia. She told CNN Tuesday that she would "defend her professional honor" in the case and declined to comment further about the matter, saying she just learned of the news.Emails released by Trump Jr. show that he agreed to the meeting after being told the "crown prosecutor of Russia" wanted to give the Trump campaign incriminating information about Clinton. Instead, Trump Jr. later said, Veselnitskaya focused on the repeal of the Magnitsky Act, a 2012 law that sanctions Russians accused of violating human rights.Veselnitskaya has said in interviews that she has a working relationship with Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika and that they exchanged information during her lobbying efforts against the Magnitsky Act. She has denied that she has ever worked for the Russian government, and a Kremlin spokesman has said the notion was "absurd."It's unclear if there was any response from the Trump team to the request from Veselnitskaya concerning the Magnitsky Act. The Trump administration has not moved to roll back the Russian sanctions, and, in fact, new sanctions against Russia have been enacted.Special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating the Trump Tower meeting as part of his probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election. The special counsel's office declined to comment on whether it contributed to the Veselnitskaya investigation or referred it to the US Attorney's office. The indictment of Veselnitskaya appears to stem directly from the New York case concerning the Cyprus-based investment firm Prevezon Holdings Ltd. and its Russian owner, Denis Katsyv.Veselnitskaya attended proceedings in the US for the case, including a hearing in Manhattan on the same day of the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting. This story is breaking and will be updated. 2912
