KEY WEST, Fla. – The civil rights attorney who represents the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery has now been retained by the mother of young boy arrested by police in Florida.Attorney Ben Crump has been retained by Bianca N. Digennaro, whose 8-year-old son with behavioral disabilities was handcuffed by Key West police and charged with felony battery in 2018. LA JOLLA (CNS) - A 31-year-old woman was hospitalized this morning with a fractured neck sustained in a two-vehicle crash at a La Jolla intersection.The woman was driving a 2015 Toyota Prius eastbound in the 8500 block of Whale Watch Way at 4:15 p.m. Friday when she ran a stop sign at Prestwick Drive and made a left turn where a 44-year-old man driving a 2018 Chevy Traverse northbound on Prestwick Drive broadsided the woman's car, according to Officer John Buttle with the San Diego Police Department.The woman was taken to a hospital with a fractured neck, police said. Alcohol was considered a factor in the crash. No arrests were reported. 654
JULIAN, Calif. (KGTV) -- The threat of wildfires in Julian may be going down. SDG&E is installing underground power lines to help mitigate the fire risk. The project is also expected to keep critical facilities open during pre-emptive power outages. Not only will the work help prevent fires, it may also help keep power running when Santa Ana winds start picking up. Crews were hard at work Tuesday putting underground power lines near State Route 78 in Julian. RELATED: City of San Diego moves forward with undergrounding more power linesThe project is part of SDG&E’s effort to reduce the risk of wildfires and shutting down power during windy weather. It will help keep the power running to places like Julian’s schools, post office, library and their Cal Fire station. Phase one of the project is being done along Cape Horn Avenue. Many homes and facilities have lost power there during shutoffs in the past. While residents in Julian were happy about the changes, they know it won’t happen overnight.
