(KGTV) - San Diego Sheriff's deputies are investigating a possible threat against Julian High School Friday.Deputies contacted the student suspected of issuing the threat off-campus, according to Julian Union High School District Superintendent Patrick Hefflin. KENOSHA, Wis. — The father of Jacob Blake says his son was left paralyzed from the waist down after he was shot by a Kenosha police officer Sunday.Blake’s father told the Chicago Sun-Times that he was told his son was shot eight times during the Sunday evening confrontation with police, which was captured on cellphone video and led to two nights of unrest in the city that's along Lake Michigan between Milwaukee and Chicago.The father, who is also named Jacob Blake, said he was driving from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Kenosha to be with his son.He said his son has “eight holes” in his body and that doctors don’t know if the paralysis will be permanent.Protests in Blake's honor happened across the country Monday night, including in Portland, San Diego, New York, Minneapolis, and Denver.Police declared a riot in Portland after fires were set outside of the offices of the police association. In San Diego, at least three protesters were arrested.Locally, anger over Blake's shooting spilled into the streets of Kenosha for a second night Monday. Police again fired tear gas at hundreds of protesters who defied a curfew, threw bottles and shot fireworks at law enforcement guarding the courthouse.Wisconsin Democratic Gov. Tony Evers activated 125 members of the National Guard to assist local law enforcement Monday. (KGTV) — Coast Boulevard in La Jolla was shut down Thursday, and will remain temporarily closed, as city crews began emergency construction to stabilize a nearby cave.The city closed Coast Blvd. late Thursday to begin an emergency project to stabilize Cook's Crack after geology experts discovered a zone of weakness in the cave, which is located underneath the street.During a press conference, crews said the concern is an outright collapse of the section of road over the cave. Currently, the weakness "is not a slow settlement" and could fail if erosion happens underneath the street. Much of the dense rock had eroded, and now sand and roots were showing through from underneath.As part of the project, sections of Cave St. and Coast Blvd. will be temporarily closed to traffic for about six weeks. The city said it will make accommodations for nearby residents and business affected by the closure.Officials said the discovery came as the city assessed repairs to Coast Blvd."They said there's been some shift in the road itself," David Heine, owner of nearby Brockton Villa Restaurant, said. "The busiest two weeks of summer, literally ... Obviously safety's the number one concern for any city, and we respect that." Heine said crews are allowing pedestrians to continue to walk through the area.The city called in crews from Texas, who drove in overnight to take over the project. Friday, the crews began drilling into the street above to locate some of the weakest points. KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri says it is seeing a disturbing trend in child sexual assault cases.Children are abusing children."I think that was kind of shocking to us all as we were collecting this data, is that almost half of our perpetrators are minors," said Heidi Olson, the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Coordinator.The SANE program's data shows perpetrators are likely to be between 11- and 15-years-old."Another thing we're noticing is a lot of those sexual assaults are violent sexual assaults, so they include physical violence in addition to sexual violence," said Jennifer Hansen, a child abuse pediatrician at Children's Mercy.Recently, the International Association of Forensic Nurses said the hospital is in the top five percent in the United States, which includes hospitals that see adults, in the volume of sexual assault victims they see.Last year, Children's Mercy saw 444 kids who were sexually abused within the last five days. That number rounds out to around 1,000 a year when they include the children who report sexual assault after five days.Victims are most likely girls around 4- to 8-years-old.Hansen and Olson say the number each year continues to rise. They can't pinpoint for sure if it's because Children's Mercy is a recognized children's facility with the capacity to serve more people, or if more children are reporting the assault now than in years past."To sexually assault someone else, that's a learned behavior," Olson said.Nurses are also finding more and more that pornography is playing a role in these cases. That can include a victim being forced to see porn, a victim reporting that the perpetrator said they'd watched porn, being forced to do something shown in a pornographic video, or a victim being recorded doing a sexual act.Hansen and Olson say they're noticing kids are being exposed to porn at very young ages, around 4- or 5-years-old. They say a child can develop unrealistic and dangerous ideas about intimate relationships by being exposed to violent, graphic porn."We know that it's probably multi-factorial. I think there are lots of things that contribute to this, but that is the question; How are we, as a society, failing in such a way that we have 11, 12, and 14-year-old boys, primarily, committing violent sexual assaults?"
