Paul's office said that staffers began working remotely 10 days ago and he had virtually no direct contact with his staff. “Given that my wife and I had traveled extensively during the weeks prior to COVID-19 social distancing practices, and that I am at a higher risk for serious complications from the virus due to having part of my lung removed seven months ago, I took a COVID-19 test when I arrived in D.C. last Monday," Paul said in a statement. "I felt that it was highly unlikely that I was positive since I have had no symptoms of the illness, nor have I had contact with anyone who has either tested positive for the virus or been sick."The CDC issued the following guidelines for testing:Hospitalized patients who have signs and symptoms compatible with COVID-19 in order to inform decisions related to infection control.Other symptomatic individuals such as, older adults (age ≥ 65 years) and individuals with chronic medical conditions and/or an immunocompromised state that may put them at higher risk for poor outcomes (e.g., diabetes, heart disease, receiving immunosuppressive medications, chronic lung disease, chronic kidney disease).Any persons including healthcare personnel, who within 14 days of symptom onset had close contact with a suspect or laboratory-confirmed4 COVID-19 patient, or who have a history of travel from affected geographic areas5 (see below) within 14 days of their symptom onset.Paul believed he should have been tested because of a preexisting condition."The nature of COVID-19 put me – and us all – in a Catch-22 situation," Paul said. SAN QUENTIN, Calif. (AP) — Lonnie Franklin, the convicted serial killer known as the "Grim Sleeper" who preyed on the women of South Los Angeles for decades, has died in a California prison. He was 67. Corrections officials said Franklin was found unresponsive in his cell at San Quentin State Prison on Saturday evening. An autopsy will determine the cause of death; however, a corrections spokeswoman said there were no signs of trauma. Franklin had been on death row since August 2016 for the deaths of nine women and a teenage girl. Franklin was linked at trial to 14 slayings, including four women he wasn't charged with killing. "Babies are inside the amniotic sac, which is inside the uterus, which is a very thick muscular wall that provides a lot of protection to babies," said Dr. Carewe.Wearing a standard seatbelt while pregnant is Dr. Carewe's recommendation, solely because not enough studies have been done on the safety of maternity belts.However, she knows that moms need to do what's right for their baby.And for Leah and Kierra, it gives them peace of mind.
