POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) — North County residents forced to use bottled water following a boil water advisory will have to wait a little longer to return to the tap.The City of Poway issued a boil water advisory on Saturday after learning that a recent storm may have compromised the potable drinking water system. Tuesday, the city said two tests showed water meets industry standards and was absent of bacteria. Though the tests are positive, the city says they will continue the advisory per state protocols. Officials were not able to offer a timeline as to when the advisory would be lifted. Officials say water should be boiled for a minute and that it's still safe to shower.As the boil order continued Tuesday, many local small business owners are growing more concerned.At Poway's Round Table Pizza, employees were able to operate on a limited menu and modified permit thanks to help from a neighboring location in Rancho Bernardo. They were one of the few local restaurants able to stay open.But across town, Pacific Pizza owner John Crosser says he's lost thousands after having to throw out dough used with water before the order was issued Saturday."Trying to get things rolling, get cash flow rolling and stuff, and then when you lose two or three days of sales and then everybody still expects all their bills have to be paid, rent has to be paid ... if it continues it could be catastrophic, it really could," Crosser said.Crosser says he's sanitized everything and is ready to reopen, but is still waiting for the green light from the city.Bottled water will continue to be distributed at Lake Poway and City Hall from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. (KGTV) -- Take away the masks, temperature readings, and distance markers, and Canyon View Elementary in Poway looked like any other first day of school Thursday morning.Asked if they have been waiting for this day, one parent told ABC 10News, “Yes, for so long.”The Poway Unified School District kicked off their hybrid program consists of both in-person and digital learning for kids in grades K-5.Students will be in class for a maximum of 2.5 hours per day, and while It's a short day, parents like Chris Madrideo said it's enough."The two hours is perfect, [better] than nothing because at home it's been hard,” Madirdeo said.To ensure social distancing, half the amount of kids returning will be part of the morning session, the other half will take part in the afternoon session."We had a lot of parent meetings, I sent videos about what it's going to look like. We've had families do test runs so we're ready and we'll make adjustments as needed," said Canyon View Elementary Principal Jill Halsey. "We looked at what's working, and we want to take what's working and implement it here.”Desks inside classroom will be covered with plexiglass and six feet apart.The district’s communication director said if a student or staff contracts COVID-19 while involved in in-person learning, they'll be required to switch back to distance learning immediately. The school will then work with the health department to contact trace, notify and test, if needed, anyone affected.Families were also given the option to continue virtual learning. Politicians and parents of slain students in Parkland, Florida, are expressing outrage about a forthcoming video game in which players can simulate being an active shooter to terrorize a school.The game, "Active Shooter," is set to be released June 6 on Steam, a gaming platform owned by Valve Corp., a video game developer based in Washington state.
