Hurricane Harvey was a big headline in 2017. A year later, many continue to recover from the storm. They’re also remembering the government’s response, as they head to the polls to cast their ballots in the upcoming midterm election.“Yes, for the last three and a half years, walking into this house has been very depressing, I would say,” says Houston homeowner Greg Roberts.It hasn’t been easy for the Roberts, who live in Houston’s Meyerland neighborhood."We got flooded out in 2015, 2016, and 2017 with Harvey, as well," Roberts says.The Roberts haven’t lived in this home since it was first flooded in 2015. Harvey brought in more flood damage.Now, the couple is raising their home's foundation higher than the levels Harvey's waters reached. "If you look up and down the streets of this neighborhood and many others, you will find many others that have been lifted or completely demolished," Roberts says.Many residents in the area are preparing for the next storm. But the past isn't lost in this election cycle.  "The topic of flooding and recovery from flooding has not left the public conscious for at least the last three years, probably before, especially the past three and a half years,” Roberts says.Roberts says it’s a major talking point for politicians in Texas.After so much flooding, the Roberts say they've already answered another tough question about their future. Why do they stay?“That's a good question,” Roberts says. “It's a person by person decision; there's no question about that. "Turning the page with our beloved catalog is, in fact, a natural process since media consumption and customer behaviors have changed. And as she's lost weight, she's gained so much more."We're grazers," Marcie Weiler recalls. "I was brought up just (hands to mouth motion) mindlessly. Totally mindlessly just pop it in."That's how Weiler grew up thinking about food. "It affects you know pulmonary health and diabetes it affects joint pain and problems."Dr. Weaver says the effects can be serious, and potentially deadly. A new study found improvements in mortality rates are slowing, obesity is the main cause, and many people look the other way."Only 20 to 30 percent of people who are obese had even talked to their doctor about their obesity," Dr. Weaver says. "And the problems that go along with being obese."Dr. Weaver says it is possible to be overweight and healthy, but your body mass index can let you know for sure. And once you've figured that out, beating obesity isn't just about cutting calories and working out. There's a new understanding that the biggest challenge, is revamping your lifestyle."It's an entire body change," Dr. Weaver says. "It's not just an eating habit it's changing your eating habits but it's changing how you perceive food. And everything that goes along with food."That's what Weiler has done. Along with bariatric surgery, she has lost more than 100 pounds. In a security policy that has been implemented in many stadiums and arenas around the country, large bags will soon be banned inside Cinemark's movie theaters, the company has announced. The ban will go into effect on Thursday at all of its theaters. Cinemark is the parent company of chains such as Rave Motion Pictures, Century Theatres, CineArts and Tinseltown. Bags larger than 12 inches by 12 inches by 6 inches will not be permitted. Exceptions may be made for medical equipment and diaper bags. Cinemark said there will not be anywhere to check bags. The chain also said that the company reserves the right to inspect all bags entering its theaters. A Century Theatre, which is owned by Cinemark, was the scene of a mass shooting in July 2012, when 12 were killed and 58 were wounded by a gunman. Survivors and families of the victims sued Cinemark claiming the company did not take adequate safety and security precaution.
