But there's one company helping NASA and the U.S. Air Force go where no satellite has gone before."Deep space" is well outside the Earth's atmosphere, lying beyond the Earth-moon solar system. A company called Roccor, based in Longmont, Colorado, is doing their best to change that.“We are just getting in a contract with NASA to do solar sailing where we are going to leave earths orbital realm and go much farther away,” said Bruce Davis, who works for Roccor.Davis and his team are working on a project called the "solar cruiser."They created what’s called a "solar sail." It essentially gets attached to a spacecraft and acts as a propeller, ultimately upping its performance by pushing it farther into deep space.“We are capturing whatever is coming off the sun — that’s radiation, that’s photons — we call it a collective pressure," Davis said. "That’s what we are trying to grab to give ourselves propulsion.”When the sail opens up, it’s as big as an office building. Air France confirmed on Wednesday the death of a stowaway who was discovered in the well of the landing gear after a flight from Abidjan, Ivory Coast, bound for Paris. In a statement, Air France said it was saddened by the incident and that an investigation is underway.According to BBC News, the stowaway was a child, roughly aged 10. It is unknown how the child was able to get into the landing gear. While there have been a handful of instances when a stowaway survived in the landing gear of a plane, there have been a number of recent examples of stowaways dying. One notable recent example happened last year as a stowaway fell from a plane on its final approach to London. 692

A newly released batch of emails and text messages shows Boeing employees raising doubts among themselves about the safety of the 737 Max and talking about hiding problems from regulators. But with that new responsibility comes great power — usually about 1100 watts of it.The Ball State University Police Department posted a hilarious reminder on their Facebook page telling students that the microwaves in their dorms do more than just warm snacks and reheat day-old coffee. They can also set off the fire alarms in the dorms."Every year starts with multiple fire alarms in Ball State Housing," Ball State Unviersity police posted on social media. "Most if not all of these fire alarms are preventable."They offered tips on how to heat up many college student staples, including Pop-Tarts, brownies, Kraft macaroni and cheese, oatmeal and popcorn.Pop-Tarts "must be removed from their aluminum foil prior to placing in the microwave," they wrote. "Microwave for 3 SECONDS not 3 minutes."They also gently reminded their Muncie, Indiana, students that brownies, mac and cheese and oatmeal usually need some kind of liquid added to them, whether it's milk or water.And, of course, they cited popcorn as the worst offender of setting off fire alarms unnecessarily.
