SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man who led police on pursuit was arrested early Monday morning after spending 45 minutes on the roof of a Webster home.San Diego police officers attempted to stop a dark colored Kia shortly before 12:30 a.m. on 49th and Federal Blvd. after the driver was seen driving recklessly.The driver crashed into an embankment and pole on Marilou Road, and that's when police said the suspect jumped out and took off running.Police chased the man for several blocks, even jumping fences and running through backyards. The suspect then climb on top of a home, leaping across rooftops trying to get away, but was surrounded.The suspect sat on the rooftop on Brookline street and told officers he would not come down until they put their guns down.The suspect eventually surrendered 45 minutes later. Firefighters were called in to put a ladder up and help get him down.He's being evaluated for DUI and faces felony evading charges. 950

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego family wants to warn other about daytime burglars who may be posing as door-to-door salespeople.The Alvarado family just moved to a home in Allied Gardens. It is a safe neighborhood, but they noticed there are a lot of solicitors.Tuesday afternoon they were burglarized by a couple of young men wearing matching outfits.“I left the house for 25 minutes to pick up my daughters from school," Vanessa Alvarado said. "When I was coming down the street I noticed two young men walking quickly down the street, from my driveway, carrying both my guitars."Her daughters were also in the car as they drove up to their home, and burglars.“They looked up and saw me. They knew who I was,” Alvarado said. "They knew my car and they just sped down the street, made a sharp right turn."One of her daughters noticed the young men’s matching clothes.“I think they looked like salesmen. I noticed one of the had a binder in his hands with several things on top, which turned out to be my personal belongings,” Alvarado said.The home was locked at the time of the burglary.The thieves went into the backyard and broke in through a bedroom window, which was open a few inches but had a stopper device on it aimed to prevent anyone from opening the window further.Regardless, the thieves pried off the screen, and pushed the window open.The men made off with numerous items, including guitars, Kindles and jewelry. They left no fingerprints.“I went from trying to be strong for my daughters to realizing my wedding rings were gone and at that point, my heart just shattered into a million pieces,” Alvarado said.Now, the family is getting security cameras and they have dowels in the windows so they can't be opened.  1744

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego group is calling for the city to take emergency action to help control the ever-rising cost to rent.San Diego Tenants United plans to speak to the Smart Growth and Land Use Committee during public comment Tuesday.The tenant group will ask the committee to invoke a government code that would slow the rate of rent increase.RELATED: San Diego rentals in 2017: A year of grief for rentersThe group says San Diego policymakers have made it easier to build housing over the last year and now it’s time to start protecting renters.A similar ordinance was passed in Beverly Hills in 2017. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man was arrested after the mother of a three-year-old girl called the San Diego Police and said her daughter was kidnapped and inappropriately touched by her neighbor.Police say the ordeal happened just before 10 a.m. Saturday, on Maple Street near Oak Park Elementary School.Two uncles spoke with 10News off camera, saying they heard their cousin "making a fuss" about her window being broken into, the same bedroom where their niece was taking a nap."He snatched her from the window... Three minutes to ten minutes that she was in there," one uncle said.When the girl was back home, the uncles said she seemed upset and reserved. Once she started talking, and the family had an idea of what may have happened, emotions boiled over."My cousin just went in for the shine like the first shot he made him bleed like I think he cracked his nose," he said his sister pulled them apart, and the man ran off.Blood stains were visible on the concrete outside. "Something had to be wrong with him, for him to balls up and come through a window with like ten people in the house," he said. The family knew the neighbor was mentally ill but did not think to this extent.The toddler and her parents then went to the hospital to get "a rape kit, just make sure everything’s fine, and we don’t exactly know what happened to her she saying that she was touched."The incident happened right across the street from Oak Park Elementary School, where students will come back to class August 28th. The San Diego Police Sex Crimes Unit is investigating the incident. 1635

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man who apparently set himself on fire and died of burn injuries is unidentified, the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office said Friday in a plea for the public’s help. An artist created a rendering of the man who told first responders his name was Randy. Medical Examiner’s Investigator Tessa Lee said Randy apparently set himself ablaze under an overpass bridge in Carmel Valley July 4. He died six days later. Randy’s burns were too severe for investigators to obtain fingerprints or identify tattoos or a birthmark. The man was Hispanic or Caucasian, in his 20s to early 40s, with short dark hair, and green or hazel eyes. He stood between 5’9” and 5’11”, and weighed about 270 pounds. Lee said Randy might have been homeless. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 858-694-2905. 836
