BONITA (KGTV) - A Bonita man is seeking the public's help to find the people responsible for ransacking his family home last Tuesday night.Michael Currier grew up on San Miguel Road in Bonita and once you understand his family's history it's easy to see why this home means so much.A couple doors down is where his mother and uncles were raised, at grandpa's house. His mother stayed close to care for grandma who had Alzheimer's and when the house went on the market, Currier and his wife pulled together what they could to keep it in the family.They bought the home in 2013 and have been renovating. He and his wife are now taking care of his mother, who also has Alzheimer's, so they weren't home last Tuesday night.Currier came home Wednesday and found it barren. All the construction tools in each room, gone. Incredibly rare parts he was using to build specialty motorcycles, gone too. Shelves full of black bins barren, with dust outlining where they sat for years."The parts that were stolen are irreplaceable. Those motorcycles, I'll never be able to work on again," Currier said.Currier worked as a contractor to pay for nursing school, and collected tools since he was 15. While he's glad no one was hurt from the break-in, what he lost was more than items on a list."Definitely makes you feel a little uncomfortable in your own house in your own neighborhood which is frustrating especially when you grew up in this area and this has always been a home, a safe place," he said.He filed a report with the San Diego County Sheriff's Office and they are looking into the incident.In the meantime, Currier's resorted to hanging signs, with a reward for information, around the neighborhood. 1726

BOULDER, Colo. — The Boulder City Council has voted to approve a ban on so-called "assault" weapons, bump stocks and high-capacity magazines.The vote at Tuesday's city council meeting was unanimous.The most recent version of the ordinance defined "assault" weapons as “semi-automatic firearms designed with military features to allow rapid spray firing for the quick and efficient killing of humans.”Anyone who legally owns an assault-style weapon in Boulder before June 15 would be allowed to keep it under the new rules. Broadcasters Joe Buck and Troy Aikman were reportedly captured on a hot mic Sunday before the Green Bay Packers-Tampa Bay Buccaneers game criticizing and mocking the stadium flyover at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.According to a video obtained by Defector Media, the broadcasters wondered why a flyover was happening at all, with the stadium being filled at 25% capacity.According to CNN, Aikman was heard saying on the clip that the flyover wouldn't happen on a Kamala-Biden ticket.Aikman took to Twitter on Tuesday to discuss his comments."I love a flyover but It was odd to see one over a mostly empty stadium but I am an unwavering patriot that loves this country, has always respected our flag, supported the men and women in the armed forces as well as those in uniform who serve & protect and for anyone to suggest otherwise doesn't know me, my beliefs or what I have stood for my entire life," Aikman tweeted. 931

BALTIMORE — The U.S. Catholic Conference of Bishops, which is meeting in Baltimore this week, will now face a lawsuit.It's being filed today by six people who have accused Catholic priests of sexual abuse. The group is hoping this lawsuit will prevent bishops from keeping cases of abuse secret. On Wednesday in Baltimore, sexual abuse survivors and their attorneys, along with victims advocates, will announce the details of the lawsuit. The suit names the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops for hiding the known histories and identities of the accused clergy members from the public, parishioners and law enforcement.They're demanding the release of files that would help them prove their allegations that some bishops were complicit in covering up the abuse and protecting priests. They also want a full disclosure of all of the known offenders from the nearly 200 dioceses across the country.Six survivors from California, Illinois, Minnesota, New York and Pennsylvania will talk Wednesday about why they filed the suit together and why they're doing it now. Later Wednesday afternoon, Loyola University Maryland will also hold a public forum to talk about the sex abuse crisis in the Catholic Church. 1254

BROOKLYN, Iowa — The family and friends of Mollie Tibbets, missing since July 18, have set up a reward fund in hopes that information leading to her whereabouts will find its way to authorities soon."We believe Mollie is still alive, and if someone has abducted her, we are pleading with you to please release her," a spokeswoman for the family said during a news conference Thursday morning.She urged anyone with information to call the tip line (800) 452-1111 or submit tips via Crimestoppers of Central Iowa website.Anonymous tips funneled through Crimestoppers of Central Iowa will be shared with authorities and investigators working to locate Mollie while ensuring the protection of the identities of those providing information, she said.  As of 10 a.m. Thursday, 2,000 had been raised for the reward fund. "It is our greatest hope that if someone has her, that they would just release her and claim that money that we have raised for her freedom," she said.Getting the information out beyond Mollie's community will be key to finding her, Greg Wiley said at the press conference. Wiley addressed the security technology behind the P-3 anonymous tip line, which encrypts and scrubs the identity and provides only an ID number."If they contact us, we can protect their identity. ...We don't know who you are even if we wanted to know who you are," he said.
