SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Palomar College student told deputies he wanted to cause a mass casualty shooting at the school and carry it out in April to commemorate the Columbine High School shooting.Team 10 has learned the student is the same person who made threats involving the San Diego County Administration Center last week.10News is not naming the student because no records are showing he’s been charged with a crime at this time.According to court documents obtained by 10News, the student stated to San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies he intended on “targeting the egress walkways by using an elevated point and shooting a firearm upon bystanders.”The court filing, a petition for workplace violence restraining orders, included a Palomar College Incident Reporting Form that stated, “he intended on targeting the egress walkways by using an elevated point and shooting a firearm upon bystanders.” It also noted he “began planning this assault in January 2018 and wanted to carry it out on Friday, April 20, 2018, to commemorate the Columbine High School shooting.”The student didn't have a specific staff member or student targeted but was looking at any bystanders that would be in the area.A spokesperson for Palomar College tells 10News,  1269

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent accused of pointing a gun at a man in East County was charged Tuesday.Investigators said Agent Ed Zuchelli waved the gun at a young man who was riding a dirt bike in Lake Murray on February 16.Zuchelli is also accused of driving drunk. San Diego Police confirm he was in a government-issued vehicle at the time of the arrest. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A life-changing medical diagnosis forced a San Diego sailor to leave the military and start over. While devastating, he's now pursuing another career with help from his new best friend. "When I left the ship and went to MCRD I started getting really sick and thought it was the flu," said Hugo Reynoso.Instead, Reynoso was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and was medically retired from the Navy. "It's kind of scary having a steady paycheck and then going to have to look for something else," said Reynoso.On several occasions, dangerously high blood sugar levels sent Reynoso to the hospital. A friend suggested he get a diabetic alert dog. "He has enough personality for the both of us! He's a special character," said Reynoso, referring to his service dog Sky.Sky can detect when Reynoso's blood sugar levels are too high or low, alerting him by tugging his shirt or howling. In one instance, Sky detected extremely low levels when Reynoso was sleeping, alerting him to get up. Sky was by Reynoso's side as he pursued a new career in the automotive field. Reynoso was commuting two hours to Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Rancho Cucamonga for a fast-track program. "I was commuting 167 miles, one way, I would have to wake up around 2:30 a.m., start my drive at 3," said Reynoso.Reynoso did this five times a week, running on just a few hours of sleep. Sky was there to ensure his blood sugar levels were steady. "Everyone told me when we were getting ready to graduate that they were going to miss me, but mostly they were going to miss him because he was their support too."While Reynoso's diagnosis took away his old dreams, he now has a partner to help achieve new ones. 1711

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A near decade-long push to get a traffic light installed at a residential intersection along Governor Drive is inching closer to success.The city has partially funded the light at the intersection of Lakewood Street and Governor Dr. and it's now in the design phase. The news comes almost nine years after resident Mark Powell complained to the city about speeding drivers. Powell received a letter from the city in April 2010 that acknowledged a safety issue and said the intersection would be placed on its "priority list" for a traffic light, pending funding. "If you're put on a priority list, and it's been a decade, you're obviously not a priority," Powell said. "They've failed on multiple levels to get this completed."The intersection is on a long stretch of Governor Dr. that leads from Genesee Avenue to the 805. It has a 35 mile-per-hour speed limit, but there is no traffic light or stop sign to slow drivers as they pass Lakewood St. "By copy of this letter we will request that the police department consider this location for radar enforcement," the city said in the 2010 letter. Meanwhile, Powell says the safety issue is getting worse because University City is going through a building boom. The area is seeing new high rises, plus the expansion of the Westfield UTC mall. Powell's daughter, Arielle, 16, just got her driver's license and commutes to University City High School daily, making a left onto Governor from Lakewood. It's the only road that leads out of the neighborhood. "I get nervous in the morning because I don't want to be late for school having to wait for all of these people, because traffic on Genesee builds up really fast," Arielle said. A new traffic light can cost a minimum 0,000 to install.In a statement, councilwoman Barbara Bry said she was glad to learn that the city had approved the light and that it has been partially funded. "This project is a testament to our engaged community who brought this to my attention," Bry said. During the address, the President made an appeal to the American people on border security and a proposed border wall. Of 1,000 people asked for the 10News/Union Tribune poll, 35 percent say they watched the address while 32 percent say they didn’t.
