dequate. The NAACP wanted the judge to compel the bureau to hire more census takers in the field and open more field offices in hard to count communities.“Plaintiffs have not demonstrated that if the census proceeds as planned, there will be a differential undercount of the magnitude they fear, or if I were to order the funds spent as they want, the 2020 census would not produce an equal or worst undercount for hard-to-count communities,” U.S. District Judge Paul Grimm wrote.___Schneider reported from Orlando, Florida. Hallmark Channel told the Associated Press that actress Lori Loughlin will no longer be involved with the network after starring in more than a dozen of the network's films. On Tuesday, Loughlin was indicted by federal officials after being accused of being in a college bribery scheme. Loughlin, who was on the cast of the hit 90s sitcom "Full House," is accused of spending 0,000 in bribes to help her two daughters gain admission into USC. Loughlin's daughters allegedly gained entrance into USC as crew recruits, despite not having the credentials to participate in the sport.Loughlin posted a million bail on Wednesday after turning herself in, the LA Times reported. 690

Five transgender members of the United States military testified in front of Congress on Wednesday, the first to do so publicly.Army Capt. Alivia Stehlik, Navy Lt. Cmdr. Blake Dremann, Army Capt. Jennifer Peace, Army Staff Sgt. Patricia King and Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Akira Wyatt all testified in front of the House Armed Services Committee, according to the Washington Post. All five testified that they were able to do their jobs effectively after transitioning. Some testified that their fellow soldiers were comfortable with their transition, and their transition even allowed others to open up to them.“They talked to me and told me things they never would have before,” Stehlik said. “Things they said they’ve never told other people. I asked them why, and the consistent answer is that they valued my authenticity — my courage in being myself. It allowed them to do the same thing.”The Obama administration repealed a ban on transgender persons in the military in 2016, allowing active military members to serve openly as transgender for the first time in decades. But in 2017, President Trump abruptly changed the policy in a series of tweets. While a number of lawsuits have been filed and are ongoing, the Supreme Court recently ruled to lift an injunction in some cases, keeping the ban in place. The five military members testified that they all sought medical treatments as part of their transition that prevented them from deploying, but all said they were able to do so by taking personal leave in between deployments.Rep. Jackie Speier (D-California), who called the meeting, was among the representatives to file a bill that would allow transgender service members to serve openly earlier this month. That bill has been referred to committee. Even if it were to be passed by the House and Senate, it would likely face a veto from the president.Alex Hider is a writer for the E.W. House Democrats, along with four Republicans and the only independent member of Congress, voted to condemn President Donald Trump's comments telling four progressive Democrats to "go back" to their home countries. The resolution was approved by a 240-187 margin. The Republicans breaking from party ranks were Will Heard of Texas, Fred Upton of Michigan, Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania and Susan Brooks of Indiana. Independent Rep. Justin Amash also voted along with the Democratic majority. Amash recently left the Republican party, and has been a vocal Trump critic. The vote did not come without controversy. During House Speaker's Nancy Pelosi's House speech on the resolution, Republicans objected by saying that her comments violated the House's rules on decorum. Republicans then called for a vote to strike Pelosi's comments from the record. With Democrats holding the majority, the motion to strike her comments was defeated. Later during the debate, ex presidential candidate Eric Swalwell, a California Democrat, drew controversy by discussing comments made by Trump referring to "s---hole countries." Swalwell later withdrew those words from the record. 1180

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida woman was in for an unexpected surprise after her new weight loss surgery. For close to a decade, Daria Yackwack, a former Tampa resident who now lives in Fort Walton Beach, had to live with polycycstic ovary syndrome. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services defines it as a hormonal imbalance that affects 1 in 10 women. For Yackwack, it meant weight gain and a lot of changes for what her future would look like."Back when I first got diagnosed, (doctors) were like 'it’s going to be really hard to get pregnant,'" said Yackwack.Last year, she made a decision for herself to have gastric sleeve surgery. It was a surgery that would remove more than half of her stomach. Her weight loss was evident in pictures and her doctors said she was doing great. But in August, it was when her success turned into a scare.“I woke up with a very bad back pain. I was crying and like screaming and I woke up my other half and I was like 'my back really hurts. I’m not sure what’s really going on,'" said Yackwack.A trip to the bathroom didn't seem right to her. She thought a cyst ruptured due to her PCOS, she said it happened all the time.Turns out, she was 35 weeks pregnant. "(Doctors) came and did a fourth ultrasound and they went up like in my ribcage and they’re like, 'oh yeah. There’s a baby in there. It’s a big baby. You’re going to give birth,'” said Yackwack.Nine hours later, Aurora Lynn was born. 1457
