(KGTV) -- A man who detained two juveniles before taking their skateboards while posing as a sheriff’s deputy was sentenced Monday.  Abraham Joseph Nava, 24, was sentenced to three years of formal probation after pleading guilty in July to felony false imprisonment.In a separate case, Nava also admitted to calling in a false report of a bomb threat. Nava was given credit for 149 days in custody.RELATED: Guilty plea from man who posed as deputy, detained juveniles  He will have to comply with counseling conditions as required by the probation department, including a forensic examination to help determine what course of treatment to take, said Deputy District Attorney Peter Estes.Nava was arrested on June 14, several days after the sheriff’s department was contacted about a suspect claiming to be an undercover deputy.During interviews with several employees in the Main Street area of Vista, investigators learned that the suspect passed out fake business cards and was interacting with juveniles.Investigators also learned that the two juveniles were detained and had their skateboards taken. After identifying Nava as the suspect, investigators obtained a warrant to search his home where they discovered several pieces of San Diego County Sheriff’s Department uniform items, including badges.A box of fraudulent business cards was also found. VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A man was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl while she rode in an ambulance. The California Highway Patrol launched an investigation into the Feb. 21, 2017 incident involving 34-year-old David Carpio, a private ambulance company employee. The girl was being transported to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside when Carpio assaulted her and asked for her Snapchat information to start a relationship with her, investigators said. A CHP investigator posing as the girl communicated with Carpio through social media and text messages over several months, during which time officials gained damaging information. Other alleged female victims also came forward with claims against Carpio, saying he had sexually assaulted them when he was their neighbor. One of the women was 16 years old at the time of the encounter. Carpio pleaded guilty to sexual assault charges and was sentenced Thursday for sexual penetration of a minor and sexual battery. 1022

(KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a man who disappeared from a care facility.The department tweeted just after 1 p.m. that 36-year-old Berhane Piong went missing from the facility on the 2220 block of Bosna Place in Vista.Piong has a developmental disability and has the living and decision-making skills of a 12-year-old, authorities say. He will only respond when called by Berhane.Piong was last seen wearing his favorite camouflage hoodie jacket, black sweatpants and blue sneakers.Anyone who spots him is asked to call 911. 586

(KGTV) – A head-on collision at a Vista intersection left one driver dead and sent three others to the hospital, San Diego County sheriff’s officials said.The collision involving two vehicles happened just before 11 p.m. Thursday on West Vista Way at Copper Avenue.According to sheriff’s officials, a black Infiniti sedan was traveling westbound on West Vista Way when it collided head-on into a blue Chevrolet hatchback that was traveling eastbound on West Vista Way.The Chevrolet’s 51-year-old male driver died at the scene, while a passenger in the car was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.The Infiniti’s 22-year-old female driver was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to officials. A passenger in the Infiniti suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.The cause of the crash is under investigation, but officials believe alcohol was a factor in the collision. 935

(CNS) - A 45-year-old apparently homeless man suspected of arson was arrested after allegedly setting a car on fire in Vista.Deputies responded to a report of a car fire in the 1200 block of East Vista Way, near East Bobier Drive, about 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to Lt. Nancy Blanco of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department."On their way to the scene, a witness reported seeing a man, who appeared to be homeless, walk by the car, break a window and start the fire," Blanco said.Deputies located Jose Garcia, matching the suspect's description, who allegedly had a lighter in one hand and a pipe to smoke illegal drugs in another, according to Blanco.Garcia was arrested after a witness identified him in a curbside lineup, Blanco said. He was booked at the Vista Detention Facility for arson and possession of illegal drugs. 852
