SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego man was arrested Saturday after allegedly assaulting an elderly woman at a Central Coast beach parking lot in San Luis Obispo, law officials said.Morro Bay Police Officers responded to a disturbance call at around 1 p.m. at the Morro Rock parking lot on Coleman Drive, authorities said.Witnesses told officers that the suspect assaulted an elderly woman and knocked her to the ground. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego tradition will return this holiday season, though not to the same stage we're used to seeing. The Old Globe's production of "Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" won't be taking the theater's stage this year, instead, coming to audiences on the radio and online. The free, audio-only production can be heard on 89.5 FM and can also be streamed on the KPBS website or mobile app, and on smart speakers on Nov. 26, Dec. 5, and Dec. 20 at 12 p.m.; and Dec. 24 at 6 p.m.Of course, fans of the show can expect their favorite songs, including "Santa for a Day," "You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch," and "Welcome, Christmas (Fah Who Doraze)."And though live showings at the Old Globe are canceled until further notice due to the pandemic, another piece of holiday cheer will return outside of the theater. The 15th annual Globe Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place virtually on Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. and can be viewed on the Globe's website or social media channels. The tree lighting ceremony will feature songs, videos, and special greetings from company members and The Grinch himself."It’s impossible to imagine the holidays in San Diego without the Globe’s production of Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, and we were not about to let the coronavirus make a Grinchy move of its own and take this grand tradition away from us," said the Globe’s Artistic Director Barry Edelstein. "The intimacy of radio and its broad, easy access will bring this great show to a huge, new San Diego audience and will spread the magic of theatre and the healing spirit of Dr. Seuss around our region at a time when both could not be more needed."The tree will remain up at the Globe’s Copley Plaza through Dec. 31. Holiday photos can be taken in front of the tree every night, and visitors are strongly encouraged to practice physical distancing when visiting the plaza. 1909

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman says she tried to save the life of a man found dead under a bridge this morning. He was released from the hospital just hours before police found his body in Hillcrest. There was something about a man at the hospital that stood out to Megen Murray. "For whatever reason, I don't know why he caught my eye," said Murray. "I just watched the orderly wheel him outside."He was discharged from Scripps Mercy Hospital Wednesday night. He was still wearing a hospital gown when he was found."It was just unnatural to see a man in a hospital gown, in a wheelchair, sitting on the street."Murray says she tried to get the hospital to help, but she says they wouldn't listen. "Yep, he's homeless, he has nowhere to go, we dismissed him, if he wants he can come back in and be seen again but that was it," said Murray. She then took it upon herself to make him comfortable. "I said, 'I have these blankets for you,' and he looked at me and gave me the biggest smile. And then I said, 'I only have  cash on me, so here's .' I told him to put it in his pocket and said 'I'm sorry I cant do more."'The hospital told 10News the man was healthy enough to be released and aware of his surroundings. Seven hours later he was found dead after tumbling from the Washington Street bridge. And it's not the first time a patient was discharged in hospital clothes. A video from Baltimore went viral in January that showed a woman, wobbling and confused, still wearing a gown and surgical mask. Homeless patients are often discharged after being treated with nowhere to go. A new California Senate?bill is trying to change that.?The bill would require hospitals to coordinate with shelters to make sure the patient is cared for after they're released. RELATED: New bill to end homeless "patient dumping""We need to be more compassionate," said Murray. "We have to see these people as people. They're people. It just ripped me to the core. I'm going through my mind with, "what we can do?" I'm glad to know that that bill is out there because it needs to be addressed.A spokesman couldn't comment on specifics for privacy reasons. They did say it's the hospital's practice to offer shelter and transportation resources to patients before they're released.  2331

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A second lawsuit has been filed by family members of a mother and daughter killed by a YouTube star in a deadly wrong-way crash last year.18-year-old Trevor Heitmann, known as McSkillet on YouTube, drove his McLaren the wrong way on I-805 in August 2018. The crash killed Aileen Pizarro and her 12-year-old daughter Aryana. This latest lawsuit was filed August 22nd by Angelo Pizarro and Arcelio Garcia. Pizarro is one of the sons of Aileen Pizarro. Garcia is the father of Aryana. A lawsuit earlier this summer was filed by Aileen Pizarro's other son, Dominic, and her father. The lawsuit claims wrongful death and negligence by the City of San Diego and the County of San Diego. The family is also suing Heitmann’s estate. It states that San Diego police received a “mental case” call that Heitmann was “screaming, paranoid and delusional and threatening to harm his mom.”Police were advised by a licensed psychiatrist that Heitmann needed to be “possibly placed on a 5150 mental hold,” according to court records. However, officers did not speak to or evaluate Heitmann to determine if he was a danger to himself or others. The lawsuit also states that “one or more of the Police Officers represented or implied that they were part of a San Diego County Psychiatric Emergency Team.”Team 10 reached out to both county and city officials. As of Wednesday afternoon, there was no comment regarding the lawsuit from the city. A county spokesperson said they have not seen the lawsuit yet. Cynthia Chihak, the attorney for Pizarro and Garcia, sent Team 10 a statement which reads in part:"I am privileged to represent Angelo Pizarro, the son of Aileen Pizarro, and Arcelio Garcia, the father and sole heir of twelve year old Aryana Pizarro, who were killed on August 23, 2018 when their car was struck head-on by a McLaren automobile driven by Trevor Heitmann... This family is not excusing Mr. Heitmann’ s reckless behavior, but believe this tragic loss of three lives could have been prevented if the City of San Diego has taken seriously earlier reports of his violent and dangerous behavior. The loss suffered by this young man Angelo, of his mother and sister and the loss to Mr. Garcia of his daughter can never be rectified. But with this lawsuit they hope to bring to light the inaction of the City and prevent any other family from suffering their grief."10NEWS RELATED COVERAGE:Popular YouTuber identified in wrong-way I-805 crash that killed mother, 12-year-old daughterYouTuber's parents requested psychiatric evaluation before deadly I-805 crashNeighbor says police were called to YouTuber's home the day he died in wrong-way freeway crashHow YouTuber in I-805 crash made small fortune with gaming videosSon remembers mother and sister after release of driver's autopsy in deadly 805 crash 2829
