"NASA officials subsequently offered to buy the rover, but the scrap yard owner refused and, realizing its historical value, sold the vehicle at auction for an undisclosed sum."In another instance, NASA lost track of a bag containing moon material, which was eventually sold for .8 million.The "Apollo 11 lunar collection bag" was "seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation from the home of a former chief executive officer for the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center during a criminal investigation," the IG found, then sold at a Marshals Service auction. NASA learned of the bag in 2015 when the purchaser asked the agency to verify its authenticity, but a judge turned down NASA's request to take possession of the bag, and the unnamed individual auctioned it off.As the Space Shuttle program wound down, NASA improved its processes for keeping track of historical artifacts, the report said. MUNCIE, Ind. -- Muncie area hospitals are on the lookout for a woman accused of pretending to be pregnant to gain access to labor and delivery floors.Ball Memorial Hospital reported they are working with police and have alerted all personnel to be on the lookout for the woman.It is unclear at this time if there is any surveillance video of the woman and the hospital would not say whether they have identified her.Ball Memorial Hospital released the following statement Thursday:“While no related criminal activity has taken place or charges have been filed, hospital police, leadership and team members remain vigilant. The safety and the very best care of patients and guests are always the highest priority.”Community Health North Hospital, which delivers the most babies in Indiana, said it’s critical to run regular drills to make sure no one has access to newborns that shouldn’t.“As soon as a baby is delivered we put identification on a baby which does include a security tag,” said Jamie Phillippe, Director of NICU/PICU/Pediatrics at Community Health North. “Here down in delivery they could have anywhere from 70 to 80 moms and babies.”Phillippe said the maternity and newborn ICU units are locked down at all times and no one that isn’t supposed to be down there gets in but when situations like this arise they make sure to share the information with all staff members so everyone is aware and they pay constant attention to video feeds around the building.  1501

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey requested the help of Minnesota's National Guard Wednesday after false rumors of an officer-involved shooting in the city prompted rioting and looting.On Wednesday evening, Frey imposed a city-wide curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and asked for members of the National Guard in help patrolling his city's streets. Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz declared a state of emergency and activated 150 State Patrol troopers, according to the Star-Tribune.The chain of events that led to looting and rioting began when police spotted a homicide suspect near Nicollet Mall. As police closed in on the suspect, he pulled out a gun and shot himself.The man who died has not yet been identified.The Minneapolis Police released surveillance video from the incident within 90 minutes of the shooting. Video does not show officers firing weapons but shows them appearing on the scene seconds after the self-inflicted gunshot wound.However, the incident sparked rumors online that officers had shot and killed the man. Hours later, a group of protesters gathered at Nicollet Mall to call for justice.Though some in the crowd attempted to inform the others that police were not involved in the shooting, the protests nonetheless devolved into looting. A Nordstrom Rack and a Target in the area were among the stores hit."This is a tragic incident for all involved," said Frey. "What the city needs now is healing, not more property destruction."Minneapolis saw several nights of violent protests in late May and early June, following the death of George Floyd at the hands of the city's police officers. (KGTV) - Surveillance cameras captured a chain-reaction, hit-and-run crash in National City Tuesday morning.For Honey Mae Kenworthy, the remnants of her totaled car are hard to look at."I cried when I saw it," said Kenworthy.Surveillance video shows the last moments the 2003 Acura TL was undamaged, parked by her husband on Cleveland Avenue outside his work in an industrial park. Just past 7 a.m., a car speeds into frame and smashes into back of her car, pushing it into the car in front of it."Upset and angry whenever I see it ... he's obviously not paying any attention," said Kenworthy.After the crash, the gray car backs up and parks. The driver then gets out and starts picking up his car parts. After about 5 minutes, the man gets back in the car and drives off."Just an awful person for doing that. I felt robbed of my hard work ... had just paid of the vehicle," said Kenworthy.The driver didn't quite get everything. He left several parts, including a section of his right front bumper. Kenworthy says those parts belong to a Lexus, giving police a few more clues. Without an identification on the mystery driver, she's out of luck since she doesn't have comprehensive coverage. The car was likely going to be her 15-year-old son's first car."I feel really bad I might not have anything for him. (KGTV) -- A National City Police Officer has been placed on administrative leave for allegedly using racist and insensitive language during text conversations that surfaced online.The comments were reportedly made during a private text message conversation between the officer and a member of his family. We are extremely disappointed that we have to conduct an investigation into one of our officer’s alleged misconduct.
