Troy, Michigan police are investigating an on-the-job death at Jax Kar Wash.According to Sgt. Meghan Lehman the incident occurred around 1 p.m. Monday, when a Ford F-150 pick-up came off the automated wash area and hit two car wash employees near the exit. Both employees were transported to Royal Oak Beaumont, where one was pronounced dead late Monday afternoon. “This is the transition from the rails onto the actual driveway, so right when you’re switching it over to drive,” Sgt. Lehman said. The driver of the pick-up, a 64-year-old man from Rochester, is cooperating with police according to Sgt. Lehman. At this time, police do not think distracted driving or alcohol played a role in the crash. No charges have been filed against the driver. There is surveillance footage from inside the wash, which police will review as part of their investigation.“There’s no indication that there was any wrongdoing at the part of the car wash at all,” said Sgt. Lehman. The name of the deceased employee has not been released, as police are still notifying family members. The Jax Kar Wash location remained closed Monday afternoon while police investigated. The Pentagon has formally launched a new space-focused development agency that it hopes will form a central part of President Donald Trump's sought-after Space Force.Acting Secretary of Defense Pat Shanahan formally launched the Space Development Agency Tuesday, according to a copy of a memo obtained by CNN.The agency will fall under the new US Space Force, should Congress approve the latter's establishment. The goal of the agency is to put all US military space technology development under one roof to speed procurement. However, the memo does not make clear what will become of the Air Force's Space and Missile Systems Center and Space Rapid Capabilities Office, which participate in the development of such capabilities. The agency's creation has been met with some criticism from those who feel it may be redundant."I think there's still concern and I have some concerns about what is the mission of this entity, why do we think it would be better than what we currently do? What exactly would be focused on?" Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson said last month at the Air Warfare Symposium in Orlando, Florida."Conceptually, there has been a public discussion of this. Conceptually, it would be stood up and then rolled into a Space Force which means it would be a new agency that would exist for probably less than a year," she added.Wilson recently announced her intention to resign.Shanahan's memo says the new agency "will accelerate the development and fielding of new military space capabilities necessary to ensure our technological and military advantage in space for national defense."Space assets developed by the Military Intelligence Program will remain separate. The agency is being tasked with developing advanced space military capabilities and "will be focused on experimentation, prototyping and accelerated fielding as well as leveraging commercial technologies and services" according to the Pentagon's 2020 budget request. The budget request sought nearly 0 million in "new resources" for the new agency, which will have some 50 personnel assigned to it — a mix of reassigned and new personnel.Dr. Fred Kennedy, currently the director of the Tactical Technology Office at DARPA, has been tapped to lead the agency, according to the memo. 2278

The special counsel's office deliberated at length with Justice Department officials about issuing a subpoena for President Donald Trump to be interviewed, but ultimately the decision was made not to move forward with such a significant investigative step, according to a source familiar with the matter. For months, Robert Mueller's team had requested a sit-down interview with Trump, but the President's lawyers refused to commit and negotiations continued. Eventually, the special counsel submitted written questions to the President last fall concerning the time frame before the 2016 election, which Trump answered in late November 2018.The source said the sensitive discussions between Justice Department officials and the special counsel team, and the determination that a subpoena would not be pursued, were based on the perception of the evidence and merits of the issues -- separate and apart from the fact that current department policy dictates that a sitting president cannot be indicted. While not directly addressing the issue of a presidential interview, Attorney General William Barr's letter to Congress on Sunday offers a further glimpse into how officials at the department didn't believe they had a prosecutable case against Trump on collusion or on the question of obstruction of justice."In cataloguing the President's actions, many of which took place in public view, the (Mueller) report identifies no actions that, in our judgment, constitute obstructive conduct, had a nexus to a pending or contemplated proceeding, and were done with corrupt intent, each of which, under the Department's principles of federal prosecution guiding charging decisions, would need to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt to establish an obstruction-of-justice offense," Barr wrote. The special counsel's office and the Justice Department declined to comment on internal discussions of a subpoena. In the end, the decision to not make a formal request for a subpoena was critical, because that demand, should it have been rejected, would have been communicated by the attorney general to Congress, as the special counsel regulations mandate. Instead, a formal request from Mueller wasn't made, allowing Barr to say in his letter to Congress on Friday "there were no such instances during the Special Counsel investigation" where Mueller was turned down.The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2019 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company. This is no magic trick – veterinarians in Australia pulled a beach towel out of a snake. The family who owns Monty – the 18-year-old jungle carpet python – says she ate the entire towel the night before they brought her to the small animal specialist hospital.Vets were able to find the missing item in Monty’s stomach using an endoscope. Then, they used long forceps to grasp the towel and safely remove it. Monty is now back at home and her owner says she is back to normal. 487
