A man walked into a California police department Monday and told officers he had killed four people, police say.One of the bodies was in the car the suspect drove to the Mt. Shasta Police Department. His three other victims were in his apartment more than 200 miles away, Roseville Police Department Captain Josh Simon said in a Monday news conference.Roseville officers learned of the man's confession around noon, when they received a call from Mt. Shasta police, who detained the suspect after he came in.Roseville is about 20 miles from Sacramento and about 212 miles from Mt. Shasta.This is an ongoing investigation in coordination with the Mt. Shasta police department, Simon said, adding police don't believe the quadruple homicide was a random act. The suspects and the victim likely knew each other, police said.Police did not identify the suspect or the victims."The sole suspect involved in this incident is in custody and we do not believe there is any ongoing threat to our community," he said.The killings, he said, will likely take a toll on the Roseville community."This can really have an effect on all our first responders and people who may or may not know these victims. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Video games are not just for the young anymore – they’re for the young at heart. People over the age of 50 are one of the fastest growing group of video game players in the country and that is translating into big bucks. It’s a trend that can be seen at the Hayes Senior Wellness Center in Washington, D.C. That is where afternoons are a time to get up and strike in video game bowling. “It’s fun,” said 62-year-old Karen Glymph. “It brings you up, makes you laugh.” Glymph plays to win, even though video games are not what this generation grew up with. “We didn’t have this then,” she said. “Most everybody wanted to go outside. Now, they want to stay and play video games.” That is especially true for seniors, according to a new study by the AARP. “Gaming and technology – that's where we see a bigger shift,” said Alison Bryant, AARP senior vice president of research. How big is the shift? In 2016, about 40 million people over the age of 50 played video games monthly. By 2019, that number soared to more than 50 million. That means 44% of all seniors are now regularly playing video games. All of this is turning into big business, because the amount of money seniors spent on video games last year alone totaled billion. “I hope that the gaming industry is going to start taking a look at these numbers and saying, ‘wait a minute. There's really an opportunity here to increase our market share’ and to develop games that might be even more exciting for older adults,” Bryant said. A backpack holding an incendiary device and items that could be used for an abduction were beneath the car in which a retired administrator was found stabbed to death on the campus of California State University Fullerton, authorities said Monday.The victim was identified by Fullerton police as Steven Shek Keung Chan, 57, of Hacienda Heights. He'd retired from the school but worked at the international student affairs office as a consultant, officials said.His body was found with multiple stab wounds inside the vehicle in a campus parking lot, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene."Investigators now believe the victim was targeted based on their investigation," Fullerton police said in a statement.Police are looking for the attacker, who is described as a man in his mid-20s with black hair, wearing a black shirt and black pants.The backpack was left by Chan's assailant, said Fullerton police Lt. Jon Radus. The city's police force is leading the investigation. No motive was disclosed.The Orange County Sheriff's Department bomb squad found the backpack, Radus said.
