But Trump was scheduled to leave Friday afternoon for West Palm Beach, which is less than 40 miles away. 617
POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Residents and businesses in Poway were notified Friday they have clean water after a boil water advisory was issued nearly a week ago.Testing was conducted on Poway’s water supply and samples were sent to be examined by state officials.City officials said the first test on the water, requested by the state, came back clean Thursday night. A second test Friday showed the water was safe.RELATED COVERAGE:-- Poway could face fines as water boil advisory continues-- Poway boil water advisory continues despite positive tests-- Poway Unified School District sends parents action plan after water boil advisory issuedPoway has been under a boil water advisory since Nov. 30 after numerous residents reported brownish water coming out of faucets the day before. The city’s Public Works Department said it secured the stormwater outlet on Dec. 1 to eliminate any future backflow. The affected section of Clearwell Reservoir was disinfected and refilled earlier this week, the city said. The water issue had a negative impact on businesses, especially some Poway restaurants which had to shut down. The order also forced may residents and businesses to rely on bottled water, which the city provided daily. As residents and businesses return to normal, the city reminded everyone to flush water pipes by running water until its clear, do not use water if it is discolored, replace any water filters and flush water dispensers, and for businesses to sanitize all machines they may utilize tap water and all fixtures, sinks, dishes and utensils.Businesses that have any concerns can also call the Department of Environmental Health at 858-565-5255. 1669

President Donald Trump claimed that up to 15,000 US troops could be sent to the border to deal with the group of migrants heading toward the US through Mexico."As far as the caravan is concerned our military is out, we have about 5,000-8 (thousand), we'll go up to anywhere between 10 (thousand) and 15,000 military personnel on top of border patrol, ICE and everybody else on the border," Trump told reporters Wednesday. The Pentagon has already announced 5,200 active duty troops are being sent to the border and has identified an additional 2,000 that could go. There are currently 2,100 National Guardsmen on duty at the border and an additional 2,000 could be called upon to go if needed.Shortly after Trump spoke, the Pentagon released a statement saying "The number of troops deployed will change each day as military forces flow into the operating area, but the initial estimate is that the DOD will have more than 7,000 troops supporting DHS across California, Arizona and Texas."The migrants, who are over 800 miles away from the US, are weeks away from arriving at the border where many reportedly plan to seek asylum.Trump also added that he is thinking "very seriously" and "immediately" of stopping aid to countries where people in the group of migrants are coming from."Nobody's coming in. We're not allowing people to come in," Trump said. "If you look at what happened in Mexico two days ago with the roughness of these people in the second caravan that's been forming, and also frankly in the first caravan, and now they have one forming in El Salvador. ... We are thinking very seriously, immediately stopping aid to those countries because frankly, they're doing nothing for the American people.""Immigration is a very, very big and very dangerous -- a really dangerous topic and we're not gonna allow people to come into our country that don't have the well being of our country in mind," Trump added.Trump also responded to a question on immigration saying, "I'm not fear mongering at all." 2019
President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are both headed to Wisconsin Friday to hold campaign events. Before heading to Wisconsin, Trump was in Michigan for a campaign event. He talked up strong car sales and grousing about Michigan’s governor as he visits the state as part of a three-state swing to the Midwest on Friday.Trump has made criticism of Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer a staple of his rallies in the state. He told the crowd about the need to ease restrictions put in place because of COVID-19, prompting “Lock her up!” chants from the thousands who gathered.Trump, referring to the chants and the media, said: “They blame me every time that happens.”Trump’s visit comes as the number of COVID-19 cases reaches a record high nationally, but he complains that his challenger, former Vice President Joe Biden, has predicted a dark winter ahead. Before heading to Wisconsin at night, Democrat Joe Biden is making his case against President Donald Trump on the coronavirus in Iowa, one of the states hit hardest by the pandemic.Speaking Friday at a drive-in rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Biden rattled off a litany of statistics about how the pandemic has hit the state, noting Iowa has hit a daily record number of cases and hospitalizations this week and highlighting the steep job losses there since the pandemic hit.He mentioned that the Iowa State Fair was canceled this year for the first time since World War II and charged that “Donald Trump has given up.” Biden pledged to enact a plan to halt the spread of the virus and told the crowd, to honks from the cars gathered, “unlike Donald Trump, we will not surrender to the virus.”While Iowa is not a must-win for Biden, most polls there show a close race, and a loss there for the Trump would complicate his path to reelection.Biden also promoted Democratic Senate candidate Theresa Greenfield, telling her, “You have no idea how much you’re going to make my night when you win.” 1979
President Donald Trump falsely claimed Saturday that the New York Stock Exchange re-opened the day after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in an effort to justify holding a rally on the same day that a mass shooting occurred at a synagogue in Pittsburgh.Speaking at a planned campaign rally in Illinois, Trump said he had weighed whether to cancel his rally as well as a speech at an agricultural convention earlier in the day in Indianapolis, Indiana, but ultimately decided against it, saying such a move would amount to giving the killer an edge. He compared his decision to continue with the rally to reopening the NYSE after the September 11 attacks, something that did not happen."And with what happened early today -- that horrible, horrible attack in Pittsburgh -- I was saying maybe I should cancel both this and that," Trump said, referring to the rally and his earlier appearance at the agricultural convention. "And then I said to myself, I remember Dick Grasso, a friend of mine, great guy. He headed up the New York Stock Exchange on September 11. And the New York Stock Exchange was open the following day. He said -- and what they had to do to open it you wouldn't believe. We won't even talk to you about it. But he got that exchange open." 1273
