Claire McCaskill (D – Missouri) in a tie with Republican Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley.It is a seat the Democrats need to hang onto to have any chance of gaining control of the U.S. Senate. Currently, Republicans hold a 51-49 advantage, with VP Mike Pence able to cast the tiebreaker. The poll, conducted Aug. 8-9 by Missouri Scout, shows the race tied, which is in line with a series of polls conducted in the race since this spring.Both candidates received 47 percent of the vote, with six percent of those polled saying they were undecided.The poll also asked respondents their thoughts on amending the state constitution to permit the use of medical marijuana, with 54 percent of respondents approving.Roughly 60 percent of respondents also said the state should increase its minimum wage to .60 per hour, with a stair-step increase of Kingsley, Iowa is home to 1,400 people. “Everybody knows everybody,” said resident Chet Davis.Davis owns the town’s single grocery store: Chet’s Foods. The store has been operating for decades, and Davis’ family has owned it for more than 40 years.Generations of the community have come through these doors, but now, Davis is worried this neighborhood staple may have an expiration date.“Whether we can make it the rest of the year, I don’t know,” said the father of four and grandfather of eight.Davis said his store’s sales took a big hit when a new neighbor moved in just a few blocks away. “This year, we had a Dollar General open up in Kingsley,” he said. They always talk about a food desert, and that’s what we’ll have here if we end up having to close the store like we did the other one,” said Davis, referring to his second grocery store just a few miles away.What used to be a space packed with fresh produce is now empty, collecting dust. Davis and his family were forced to close just over one year after Dollar General opened right next door.“They came in and took about 30 percent of our business right off the top. A little bit of it came back, but not enough to pay the basic bills,” said Davis.Davis’ story is a snapshot of the incredible growth of dollar stores across the United States over the last decade.There are more than 33,185 stores across the country. Eric Greitens took a nude photo of her without her permission during an affair is telling her side of the story.The woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, spoke exclusively with KSDK-TV in St. Louis.“I’m in the middle of the most difficult, crazy fight that I didn’t ask to be a part of,” she said in the interview. “And I feel like I’m this easy punching bag, yet I haven’t thrown any punches.”This scandal became public on the night Greitens delivered the annual State of the State address in Jefferson City. That night, KMOV-TV first reported the affair and the allegations against the governor. He was accused of taking a compromising and unauthorized photo of a woman during the 2015 affair, but the felony charge stemming from the accusation has been dropped.While Greitens admitted to the affair, he denies any criminal wrongdoing.During the interview, the woman, who is referred to as K.S. in court documents, said no one had paid her and no one with any political motivations talked to her about coming forward.The story only became public when the woman’s ex-husband came forward with a secret recording as part of the KMOV-TV report.“I didn’t want this. I wasn’t out to get anyone. I really was just trying to live my life,” the woman told KSDK-TV.In February, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney charged the Governor with invasion of privacy. Once that happened, the woman said she felt she should cooperate.The charge was dismissed May 14 in preliminary stages of the trial after the court said it would allow Greitens' lawyers to question the prosecutor under oath, who said it would have been improper for her to be a witness in a trial her office was prosecuting.On Monday, a judge appointed a special prosecutor.
