TORRANCE, Calif. (CNS) - Police Monday announced the arrest of a 47-year-old parolee accused in the shooting deaths of three men during a fight at a bowling alley in Torrance.The arrest of Reginald Wallace of Los Angeles, who had been on parole since 2017 following a conviction for assault with a deadly weapon involving a firearm, was announced by Torrance police Chief Eve Irvine at a Monday afternoon news conference at police headquarters.Wallace was arrested early Sunday and was being held without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, according to sheriff's inmate records. Officers responded to a shots-fired call just before midnight Friday at Gable House Bowl, 22501 Hawthorne Blvd. Three men were pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. Two other men sought medical attention on their own.Irvine said a fight involving a few people grew into a brawl involving as many as 15. At some point, Wallace pulled a handgun from his pocket and fired into the crowd, Irvine alleged, adding that he was believed to have been the only shooter.Witness Dana Scott previously told reporters that a group of women got into a fight inside the building, then some men got involved. About a minute later, gunshots erupted, Scott said.Another witness, who refused to give his name, said a fight erupted and he heard nine gunshots.Wes Hamad, a 29-year-old Torrance resident, said he saw a ``huge fight'' break out that lasted about five minutes, blocked the entrance of the bowling alley and devolved into ``complete chaos.''``I grabbed my niece and started running toward the far end of the bowling alley,'' he said. ``As we were running, we heard 15 shots.'' Killed were Michael Radford, 20, and Robert ``Tank'' Meekins and Astin Edwards, both 28 and best friends. Meekins leaves behind a 5-year-old son, whose godfather was Edwards.``When I go home and tell him that his daddy's not coming back, it's going to break his heart because he's a daddy's boy, always has been,'' said Meekins' mother, Anglean Hubbard. ``And I wonder the person that sat up here and took all of these people's lives, how is he sleeping? How is he dealing with that? He took somebody's father. Somebody's son. I just want justice for my son and all the people in there.''Relatives of all three victims told reporters they believed the men were killed while trying to break up the fight. There are still roughly 700 children who were separated from their parents at the border and have not been reunified with those parents by the Trump administration, as new court filings reveal the slow pace of reuniting the trickiest family separation cases.That figure includes more than 40 children who are 4 years old and younger.While the administration maintains there is a suitable explanation for each of those cases, the filing makes clear that a large share of those children remain separated because their parents were deported without them.To date, 1,923 out of 2,654 children identified as separated from their parents have been reunified, the administration says.The number was revealed in a weekly status report on Thursday that the government is required to file as part of an ongoing lawsuit over the administration's separation of immigrant families at the border. A federal judge has ordered the administration to reunite all the families, as long as they are not ineligible due to safety concerns or other excluding factors.In a Friday court hearing, San Diego-based District Judge Dana Sabraw said the filing was nonetheless "very encouraging.""There's real progress being made and real effort being made in some of these home countries, Guatemala and Honduras," Sabraw said. "(It) looks or is very encouraging, at least, that everything is being done to locate as many of these parents as can be. So the report would indicate to the court that the efforts on the ground are productive and certainly heading in the right direction."There are 528 children in government custody who have not been reunited with a parent, including 23 who are under the age of 5, the filing said. For the first time, the administration also made clear how many children were not reunited with their parent but were otherwise released from detention: an additional 203, including 19 under the age of 5.Those children may have been released to a relative or family friend or may have turned 18 while in custody. It is possible some have since reunited with a parent outside of government custody, but it's not known how many have been able to do so.In the joint court filing with the American Civil Liberties Union, which filed the original lawsuit on behalf of separated parents, it is apparent that the two sides still disagree over how the efforts to reunify are going. While the numbers have improved slightly since last week's update, the going remains slow.Still, ACLU attorney Lee Gelernt said in court Friday that he expects the pace to "accelerate" soon.The filing also makes clear that the administration's accounting methods are painting a rosier picture of the pace of reunification than the ACLU's.According to the list given to the ACLU by the government, 412 parents were deported without their children -- a group that has remained the most difficult problem in the reunification process. That tabulation makes the number seem smaller by only counting the children still in custody with deported parents, rather than the total number of parents who were deported.There is also a dispute about how many parents have been actually found.The administration said only four of its total have not been "contacted" -- but the ACLU says only 231 parents were "reached," either by phone or in person. Of those, 183 have indicated what they want to do going forward, either reuniting with their child or allowing them to continue to seek the ability to stay in the US, and 10 have been reunited with their parents in their home country.In court, Justice Department attorneys attributed the discrepancies to out-of-date information or children being released from government custody. Administration attorney Scott Stewart said roughly two dozen children had been sent back to their home countries to be with their parents.The process is complicated on a number of levels. The information for tracking down parents and children is still raw and not always reliable, the ACLU says. Also because of two separate lawsuits, the attorneys must make sure the parents' wishes and the children's wishes about their future are aligned. TOLEDO, Ohio — On Monday, federal authorities announced the arrests of a man and a woman in connection to plotting two separate attacks in Ohio in concert with undercover agents.In a press conference, federal authorities said a man from Holland, Ohio was arrested after planning an attack on a Toledo-area synagogue. In a separate case, agents also arrested a Toledo woman after she purchased black powder and screws that authorities believe were going to be used to make a bomb as part of a terrorist attack.Arrest 1: Joseph DamonJoseph Damon, 21, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of attempting to provide support for ISIS, according to the Department of Justice.Earlier this year, Damon was in communication with undercover agents after he received attention from federal agents for posting photographs of knives and firearms on his social media accounts, as well as a photograph distributed by the media wing of ISIS.In conversations with undercover agents, Damon said he would be willing to participate in violent attacks, say federal officials.On Oct. 30., following the mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Damon allegedly told an agent, "I admire what the guy did with the shooting actually. I can see myself carrying out this type of operation inshallah. They wouldn't even expect [an attack] in my area."In December, Damon continued to talk with authorities about carrying out attacks on synagogues.Damon met with an undercover agent on Dec. 6, writing down the name and address of the synagogue where the attack was to occur. Later that day, the agent told Damon he purchased rifles for the attack. The two met on Dec. 7 at a location where Damon took a black duffel bag carrying two rifles. He was then arrested, according to federal authorities.Arrest 2: Elizabeth LecronElizabeth Lecron, 23, was charged with one count of transportation of explosive material for the purpose of harming others and property.Lecron received the attention of federal agents earlier this year after she frequently posted photographs and comments on social media glorifying mass murderers, including the Columbine shooters and convicted church killer Dylann Roof.After her social media account was deleted, Lecron created a new one under the profile  "CharlestonChurchMiracle," where she would post photos and comments about mass casualty attacks.In August, undercover FBI agents talked with Lecron, who told them she and an associate created a plan to commit an "upscale mass murder" at a Toledo bar.In September, Lecron discussed with undercover agents a pipeline bombing and mentioned a good place to carry out an attack was where she worked because she believed they were polluting the river behind the plant.By December, she talked with an agent and agreed to buy black powder needed to make a bomb, according to information published by feds in a news release.Federal authorities said Lecron met with a source at a retail sporting good stores on Dec. 8, where she entered the store by herself and bought two pounds of Hodgson Triple Seven Muzzleloading Propellant. She went to a larger retailer in the Toledo area where she purchased 655 screws of various sizes, some as large as 3 inches, according to federal authorities. 3334

According to ABC 10News’ media partner Televisa, the state of Baja California has had almost 27,000 COVID-19 cases and nearly 5,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic.For comparison, San Diego County's had startling 97,549 cases but far fewer deaths. As of Thursday, 1,103 deaths had been reported.On Thursday morning, ABC 10News spoke to Televisa anchor Estephania Báez about how hospital capacities across the border are maxed out, pulling the city out of its less restrictive orange tier and back into its most restrictive red tier. That hasn’t happened since the summer.“The difference between now and then is that now people don't have fear with COVID-19 here and [people have] to go to work so they prefer to [become] positive rather than to lose a day of money,” she added.Baez said there's concern over both apathies to wearing masks and resistance to any news of a vaccine. “They don't even want to get vaccinated. We have heard in several places that people are afraid and they don't trust even the authorities,” she told ABC 10News.Baja California's red tier restrictions are in place through at least Dec. 20, meaning widespread closures. “That includes schools, gyms, spas, museums, pools, movie theaters, churches, and amusement parks,” said Baez.
