SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a man they say disappeared from a San Diego assisted living facility Sunday morning and hasn’t returned.According to police, 81-year-old Gilbert Trevisio was last seen at the residence located on the 4000 block of Marine View Drive around 9:50 Sunday morning.Trevisio has dementia and believes he lives in Yuma, Arizona, police say. Trevisio has been reported missing in the past and was located downtown.Trevisio is described as a Hispanic man, five feet, six inches tall with grey hair and blue eyes.He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, grey sweatpants and black tennis shoes. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - For the second time this week, Rancho Bernardo High School Principal Dave LeMaster met with concerned parents Thursday regarding Monday's school threat.Students arrived for class Monday morning to find violent threats spray-painted onto around 20 locations on campus. They all indicated a school shooting would happen that day at noon, with messages including "murder, blood, chaos" and "Florida was nothing".LeMaster told 10News police arrived quickly and within minutes determined there was no credible threat.An email notification went out to parents around 8:30am, after class had started, although LeMaster said if there was a danger, notification would have been sent out much sooner."We work with law enforcement to make sure the situation is secure and everyone is safe, and oftentimes, communication comes after that,” said Poway Unified School District spokesperson Christine Paik.Word of the incident quickly spread among students and their family members, which provides a challenge for administrators to inform parents."In the age of social media and texting, sometimes those unofficial communications will beat us to it ," Paik said. "But we have a responsibility to be accurate before we are able to put out those messages.”One parent told 10News she thinks the school should immediately notify parents of any threat to the school to give them the option of keeping their kids away from campus, but other parents worry that doing so could cause unnecessary panic and disruption.PUSD said it will work on improving the time it takes to send notifications to parents. The district is currently working on adding a text message option for parents to receive such notifications.10News reached out to the San Diego Police Department for an update on its investigation into the threats, but has not heard back. 1856

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Wherever you may go this Halloween, it's unlikely you'll see cuter Halloween costumes than those adorning newborns at the Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health.Babies in the center's neonatal intensive care unit were dressed for the holiday as a way to spread smiles and give parents a memorable Halloween with their newborns.Giovanni Desantiago (hedgehog), Anthony Julian Caballero (Batman), Aniyah & Aaliyah Ortiz (monkeys), Max Waterhouse (C3PO), and Alizae D’Gracia (cat) were among those dressed up as part of the celebration.The NICU at Jacobs Medical Center provides care for newborns born prematurely, at times, some weighing less than a pound or with health issues that require hospitalization. San Diego (KGTV) - Thousands of kids across California approved for in-home nursing care are struggling to get the help they desperately need.On Thursday two children filed a class-action lawsuit against the California Department of Health Care Services and its director claiming the state has failed to fulfill its commitment to provide them with sufficient Medi-Cal in-home nursing services.It says, “this class action lawsuit asks the Court to order Defendants to take all steps necessary to arrange for previously-approved, medically necessary in-home shift nursing services for Plaintiffs and Class members.”According to the lawsuit plaintiff, Ivory N. is a seven-year-old and a Medi-Cal beneficiary. It says the child needs 63 hours per week of skilled nursing at home but only receives about 56 hours per week.The non-profit group, Disability Rights California, says more than 4,000 Medi-Cal eligible children have been approved by the state to receive Medi-Cal in-home nursing care, but the state lacks an effective system for arranging for needed nursing."It’s too bad that a lawsuit had to be filed, but they are right to file it because right now that need is not being met,” said California State Assemblyman Brian Maienschein.In 2017 Maienschein tried to get the problem fixed through legislation. He believes the state is not following through on its promises to the kids.“It was a significant victory last year that we were able to get money in the budget, but they are still not following through on the promises they made,” he said.According to a news release from Disability Rights California, “29 percent of authorized Medi-Cal nursing hours go unstaffed.” 1693

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --  On Monday a settlement was reached in two cases against San Diego Sheriff's Deputy Richard Fischer. Those settlements come to a total of more than 0,000. 10News has been covering the story since November when a victim shared her story with Reporter Steve Fiorina. The Sheriff's Department opened an investigation into Fischer last fall after a woman claimed he groped her while responding to a service call.The investigation then expanded to more than a dozen incidents against Fischer dating back to 2015.RELATED: San Diego County sheriff's deputy accused of sexual misconduct pleads not guiltyThe 32-year-old deputy is on unpaid leave and out on bail pending criminal court cases. At his February arraignment in a Vista courtroom, Fischer pleaded not guilty to all charges.
