The Cleveland Indians are moving forward in the process to examine and possibly change the team name and will be meeting with Native American leaders to help determine the best path forward.Indians owner Paul Dolan announced Thursday that as part of the organization's continuous efforts to discuss the team name, there have been productive meetings earlier this week with manager Terry Francona and numerous players to discuss the name, as well as social justice and racial equality issues.To continue examining the best path forward, the organization said it will be engaging with Native American leaders to “better understand their perspectives,” in regards to the team name.The organization will also hold discussions with civic leaders and said it will continue to listen to the opinions and perspectives of players, fans, partners and employees.“We feel a real sense of urgency to discuss these perspectives with key stakeholders while also taking the time needed to ensure those conversations are inclusive and meaningful,” Dolan said. “We will continue to share periodic updates as we make progress. In the meantime, we are excited for our team to return to the field to continue our pursuit of a World Series Championship.”Dolan said that the organization appreciates the “passionate response” it has received over the last few weeks since announcing it would be discussing a possible name change. That’s the message from a 94-year-old woman who traveled more than 300 miles to cast her ballot.The Detroit woman, who has been staying with her family in a Chicago suburb, didn’t receive her absentee ballot. She then asked her son to drive her to the Motor City to vote.“Vote, but know who you are voting for and why.”That’s the message Mildred Madison has for our viewers. Mrs. Madison has never missed the chance to vote, in any election, since she was 21.She was married at the age of 22 and has four kids, but that never slowed her down.In fact, she spent her life devoted to improving the community from being a PTA volunteer at her children’s school, all the way to becoming the President of the League of Women Voters of Cleveland and Detroit.She even ran for office herself.“When I found out my councilman was not doing what he was supposed to do, I ran against him and I became a councilperson.”In 2006, she worked with Wayne County and Detroit City Clerks to help improve the absentee ballot process.She says civic engagement is a must.“Women, especially black women, were the last ones that got the power to vote.”Mrs. Madison asked her son to drive her to the Coleman Young Municipal Center in Detroit to vote Monday. They drove back to Illinois the same day.Mrs. Madison tells us she voted for Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden, getting an extra push from Kamala Harris.Like the Vice Presidential candidate, Mrs. Madison went to Howard University and was in the same sorority.“It’s wonderful to see a black woman running for Vice President.”She says it’s crucial for voters to support every candidate who takes office, even if you didn’t vote for them.“Once they win support them, they can’t do everything for you but they are going to need to have your backs, just like you want them to have your back.”Mrs. Madison is working on a memoir and she wants to open the Mildred Madison Center for Civic Engagement to inspire young adults to vote. A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing three people after they invited him over for Thanksgiving at their Avondale, Arizona, home. Court records show 33-year-old Brandon Robinson met two of the victims days before at a bar. Robinson had explained to them that he didn’t have family in town or a place to go for Thanksgiving, so they invited him to their home. According to one of the victims, after about 15 minutes at the home, Robinson began to act erratic and grabbed a knife approximately eight inches in length. Robinson then allegedly stabbed all three of the victims with the knife. One of the victims, a male, was stabbed approximately seven times and was hospitalized in critical condition. One female victim was stabbed approximately five times and had to have surgery for injuries. A second female victim had one stab wound but did not need to be hospitalized.Robinson reportedly left the scene before police arrived, but was located nearby with a large cut on his hand.No motive for the attack has been given.Robinson has been arrested and faces three charges of aggravated assault. 1116

His prices haven’t changed in decades. “He’s like, ‘we’re a minority business, we need to help the minority community,'” Vo said. It’s a minority community that is now mourning the horrific death of 46-year-old George Floyd. People seeking justice immediately took to the streets. But unfortunately, what started as peaceful protests, progressed into riots with looting and vandalism. “I understand the injustice, I understand the anger, but it’s just sad. This whole street was so dead during COVID, and we were trying to survive. Only to see this – I know these owners,” Vo said. Vo’s business was spared, but many others are beyond repair. Others who live in the community say they’re upset to see their neighborhood in shambles. “It was time to react, but this, all our buildings boarded up and everything.
