SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Emily Lake opened Sisters Pizza in Hillcrest last summer to honor her sister Kate, who passed away at an age too young.Her restaurant features a wall of framed pictures of sisters and people who are like sisters - many who have become regulars at the neighborhood eatery. "People have contributed pictures of them and their sisters, them and their friends, and it's not just women. It's anybody who has a close relationship," Lake says. Lake says business had been going even better than expected, until the coronavirus outbreak. Now, her restaurant and those across the county have been reduced to takeout and delivery. "Being any sort of small business owner, and such a brand new one too, we're just navigating scary waters and doing the best we can," says Lake, who owns the restaurant with her husband Trevor. Lake estimates that 60 to 70 percent of their revenue is gone forever. That's because standard insurance policies do not cover loss of business for viruses and bacteria. "I thought that it would be a force majeure or considered an Act of God, and unfortunately it is not," Lake says. "Even in our catastrophe insurance, which would cover earthquake or other natural disasters, this pandemic is not included."But those in the insurance industry say it's an uncertain situation. That's because businesses aren't contracting or closing because they themselves have become infected. Instead, they are doing so because the government is telling them to. One San Diego insurance broker told 10News businesses should make a claim regardless. If it's denied, so be it. Lake said she'd look into that option."At this point we'll pull out all the stops in order to stay in business," Lake said. Meanwhile, California's Department of Insurance is advising all business owners to contact their insurance companies to go over options. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Funerals will be held next Thursday for two teenagers killed when they mistakenly jumped off a freeway bridge on SR-56 after a crash. 18-year-old Ruben Ortiz Jr. and 17-year-old Jesse Garcia of Escondido were in a 2012 Nissan Altima that went out of control and crashed in Carmel Valley Tuesday night. The teens and four other people got out of the car and ran across eastbound lanes of the freeway. Ortiz and Garcia jumped over the railing, not realizing it was an 80-foot drop into Gonzales Creek. Two girls who had been in the vehicle, 14 and 15 years old, suffered severe injuries and remain in the hospital. “It sat at me and hit me and our community. Someone taking up the slow lane on one of the scooters.California vehicle codes prohibit electric scooters on any road with a speed limit of more than 25 miles per hour.CHP officer Jim Bettencourt says he’s even seen them on the Coronado Bridge. A sign clearly states that pedestrians, bicycles and motor-driven cycles prohibited.As drivers go onto the bridge, not even an inch of space exists on the shoulder. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Governor Gavin Newsom and the state Attorney General California officials served a cease-and-desist letter to two San Diego strip clubs operating amid the state's stay-at-home order.The letter to the attorneys representing Pacers Showgirls and Cheetahs Gentleman's Club said the state has been informed the locations are operating indoors despite restrictions forcing restaurants to offer only take-out and delivery services under the order.The letter was sent by state Attorney General Xavier Becerra on behalf of Governor Gavin Newsom and the Department of Public Health."We are informed and believe that MIDWAY AND F-12 are continuing to conduct indoor operations notwithstanding the Regional Stay at Home Order currently in effect in the County of San Diego. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Due to struggling ridership, the City of San Diego has been busy creating a plan to revamp its bikesharing program.On Wednesday staff will provide an update on improvements made and future plans, in response to a grand jury report in 2016.The program, DecoBike, is privately owned but works in partnership with the city.Critics of the program say it has not met the city's needs due to where stations were built.Last year a county grand jury report titled "San Diego's Bikesharing Program Needs Help," outlined ways the city and DecoBike could improve to better serve the community.One recommendation was to put more stations in beach communities, even though local business owners and residents protested them being there.Since then, the city has done the opposite, removing 14 stations from beach communities.City spokesperson Katie Keach says the city and DecoBike are concentrating on increasing the number of stations in the urban core.By doing this, they believe it will provide for a comprehensive system to increase alternative transportation options. They say it will also help the city meet its Climate Action Plan goals.Keach says they hope to have additional stations in North Park, Uptown, Golden Hill and downtown this winter.The city is conducting presentations to community planning groups this fall, seeking public input.Bicycle and climate activists want the program to succeed, saying it's critical to the city's Climate Action Plan.  1486
