SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police arrested two people following a pursuit through San Carlos Friday night.Officers say they responded to reports of gunshots near the San Carlos Recreation Center around 9:53 p.m. They said they tried to pull over a suspicious vehicle, but it took off. A five-minute pursuit took place before the suspect’s car crashed near the Jackson and Golfcrest Drives.The suspects rushed out of the vehicle, but one was caught after surrendering at a nearby taco shop.  The other one ran into a nearby housing complex. That suspect surrendered after about a three-minute standoff.Police say they found guns in the car. The suspect's names have not yet been released.  713

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Neighbors in Allied Gardens had a front row seat to a woman’s retirement.The group gathered outside a home as a pre-built granny flat was lifted into the backyard with a crane.Tula Striffler chose the option as a way to be close to her daughter.“I think it’s an economical way for me to still live my life fully and do it on a retirement budget,” said Striffler.Michael Avery owns Instant Guest Homes. He says many of his customers are using the homes for secondary income, or a way to expand their family’s living space.“These home are start to finish 90,000 dollars, everything is included except for the permit fees,” Avery said.Earlier this year, the City of San Diego reduced the cost of granny flat permits, which ranged from ,000 to ,000.After a steady process, Striffler’s home was gently placed in her daughter’s backyard. It includes a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room.Mother and daughter are happy to be close to each other, with a space of their own.“It’s just the two of us so by making it work, we're thrilled.” 1068

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One man is dead and another injured after a shooting in City Heights Saturday night. 31-year old Dionte Floyd was killed and 38-year old Dashe Wallace was seriously injured, police said. Wallace's condition was unknown as of Sunday afternoon.According to police, the shooting happened around 6 p.m. on the corner of El Cajon Boulevard and 52nd Street. Police said two groups were involved in a fight when someone started shooting. Two of the men were shot several times before the suspects left the area. Police are reviewing surveillance footage to try to figure out what happened and find the suspects involved. 641

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are searching for a man they say snuck through a window into a Pacific Beach home and sexually assaulted a sleeping woman.10News met 25-year-old Christine Mansour, skateboarding along the beach.   The entrepreneur has lived in PB for the last three years, and so far, she loves her neighborhood. "There is a bit of homeless people honestly, but I've never felt unsafe," Mansour said. That is until a manhunt for a suspected rapist unfolded in her area. On Oct. 1, police said 55-year-old Jeffrey Hanze, also known as "Jeffrey Hanre," snuck into a home in the 900 block of Chalcedony Street, located off Mission Boulevard, just before 2 a.m. Once inside, police say he sexually assaulted a woman as she was sleeping, before fleeing the area in an unknown direction."I feel very sorry for her. I hope she is okay," Mansour said. Police said Hanze has been on the run ever since. We went to Hanze's Pacific Beach address nearby. Instead of Hanze, we met 75-year-old Janet Eveleigh, who told us she moved in eight months ago. Yesterday afternoon, she said police came over, searching for Hanze. "There were two at the door, and three over there, and they had guns," Eveleigh said. She told them she had never seen the man in her life. 10News also looked into Hanze's criminal past. We found he has at least two felonies out of San Diego, and was charged with several sex crimes in Arizona in 2011, including Public sexual indecency, indecent exposure to a person 15 years or more, and disorderly conduct. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - New advertisements against Measure B riled up supporters, who spoke out against the massive development Friday.The commercial states, "Measure B the Newland Sierra project, is a luxury development," something supporters vehemently deny."What I think is disingenuous is making people feel fearful of what can happen in this development," supporter Melinda Vasquez said.Friday, dozens gathered in Kearny Mesa to advocate for Newland Sierra's development project. The group included teachers and firefighters who want more affordable home options in San Diego.RELATED: El Cajon takes risks to help lower cost of housing"Home ownership has become less of a reality for families like mine," Cindy Lopez said. She is a first generation American (her parents moved from Mexico) and a teacher. She teaches first- and second-graders, and comes home to a 12-month-old."Even though she's a toddler we're going to be expanding soon in the future and we're going to need that space, that affordable space to grow our family," Lopez said she is always budget conscious for her family.The county's existing general plan calls for 99 homes and up to 2,000,000 square feet of commercial property with open space. They said the development will have a spread of apartments for seniors and low low income, affordable town-homes, and individual homes. The highest bracket in the chart showed 1,570 or more.
