UPDATE: Tuesday's meeting was canceled due to an illness.SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Tuesday night, the City of San Diego's Parks and Recreation Department will present two options for redeveloping the De Anza area to the Mission Bay Park Committee.The meeting is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. at Mission Bay High School.The two plans were released to the public over the summer. Both feature improvements to sports fields, the Mission Bay Golf Course, green space, walking paths, playgrounds and beaches. Both also have new wildlife habitat areas included, although they vary on how many acres (27 or 38). TUCSON, Ariz. - An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper intentionally collided with a wrong-way vehicle on Oct. 14.According to DPS, a trooper was assisting a stranded driver on the I-10 near Avra Valley. The trooper heard reports of a wrong-way vehicle traveling east within the westbound traffic lanes on I-10.The trooper found the wrong-way vehicle, approaching the car head-on near Cortaro Road. The trooper intentionally aligned the front left corner of his patrol vehicle with the front left corner of the wrong-way vehicle - forcing a collision that immediately stopped the wrong-way driver.DPS said the wrong-way driver was a disoriented, elderly woman. She was not properly restrained during the collision and sustained non-life threatening injuries. She was taken to Banner University Medical Center.The trooper was treated for minor injuries.“The ability of our trooper to assess the situation and take decisive action to stop the wrong-way vehicle, protected the lives of many motorists while endangering his own," said DPS Director, Colonel Frank Milstead. "I am proud of our brave trooper and pray he makes a full recovery and never has to face another wrong-way in his life.”  1216

VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) - One person is dead after a car crash left a vehicle nearly split in the North County at 1:50 a.m. Saturday morning.The crash occurred on Old Castle Road at Gordon Hill Rd. Police found the vehicle nearly split by a tree. The teenage driver was taken to a nearby hospital but died.Police did not name the driver but said he was 20-years-old from Oceanside.A teen passenger in the vehicle also suffered minor injuries but is expected to recover.Investigators said they believe speed played a factor in the crash and the vehicle may have been racing. 616

UPDATE 8:54 p.m. - Nov. 9, 2019SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Police Department has called off Saturday's Amber Alert after determining that the man who reported his vehicle stolen with a child inside filed a false report.The man told officers that his acquaintance, 29-year-old Osman Rahimi, drove off in his vehicle with an 11-year-old inside, according to SDPD Lt. Shawn Takeuchi.The man described the boy, named Johnny Diaz, as a Hispanic child, 4 feet tall, wearing a white shirt and “Transformers” pajama pants."Detectives contacted the California Highway Patrol to put out an Amber Alert in an effort to find the boy," said Takeuchi.Oceanside Police Department officers located the vehicle and Rahimi near the Aliso Creek Rest Area but the child was not with Rahimi."SDPD officers took custody of Rahimi and transported him to SDPD headquarters along with the man who made the report, and the Amber Alert was cancelled," said Takeuchi.Takeuchi said they conducted numerous interviews and determined that no child was involved. Detectives are still working to determine if Rahimi is responsible for stealing the car.The man who made the report, who has not yet been identified, may also face charged of filing a false report, according to Takeuchi."While it appears the original report was false, the mission of our department is to protect all life," said Takeuchi. NEWS HEADLINES: Missing Virginia teen safely located, alleged abductor apprehendedAn Amber Alert was issued Saturday afternoon with a description of a dark-colored 2006 Honda Pilot with California license plate number 5TLG117. At around 3 p.m., Oceanside Police located the vehicle matching the license plate and description. Officers detained a person inside the vehicle but the boy was not found.The person found with the vehicle, Osman Rahimi, 29, is being detained for questioning, police said. TUCSON, Arizona — A Tucson, Arizona man who had been in an altercation fired a gun at a police officers, hitting one of the officer's belt. The belt prevented a bullet from entering his body.That man, 51-year-old Roy King, was in a bar with his wife and family when an argument started. King's stepson, who was at the bar, called 9-1-1.During the argument in the bar, King allegedly pulled out a handgun and threatened two people. King then headed to his home.Tucson police officers went to the home in response to the 9-1-1 call and found King's vehicle in the driveway. When the officers approached the car, King started to yell at them from the backyard. He still had the handgun.During the confrontation between King and two officers, gunfire was exchanged. One of the rounds fired by King hit an officer's duty belt. The belt stopped the bullet from injuring the officer.King then went inside his home and called 9-1-1. Additional TPD officers went to the home and were able to talk King into coming outside. He was not injured and was taken into custody.Roy King was booked into Pima County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. One for the incident at the bar, and one for the incident at the home.The incident is still under investigation. 1310
