VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) - Family members are mourning the loss of Roland Escarcega Jr., a father of five and an apparent victim of those deadly blue pills. When Shonta Chaloux last saw his cousin, Escarcega was his usual jovial self."We were joking. I gave him a hard time, and he gave me a hard time," said Chaloux.Two months later, Chaloux got the news."Devastated, sad ... it was a family member who found him at his home," said Chaloux.Escarcega, 39, was found dead in his bed in late July at his home on the San Pasqual Indian Reservation after Escarcega, who worked for the tribe's water department, hadn't shown up for work. Chaloux doesn't know all the details, but says his cousin is one of the victims of the deadly pills mentioned in a sheriff's department warning."Assuming whoever went into his room and what was recovered matches what was found in the other victim's homes," said Chaloux.In late July, deputies said blue counterfeit Oxycodone pills, likely laced with Fentanyl, caused four overdose deaths in 36 hours. Chaloux says his cousin was among those who died during those 36 hours. Chaloux did not know his cousin was taking painkillers or who may have supplied them. "Whoever cut those pills, they deserve to go to prison. They are killing people," said Chaloux.Chaloux is hoping by sharing Escarcega's story, he can help other families."Listen to family members if they are struggling and see what they're struggling with," said Chaloux.For those who turn to the streets for pain relief, he has this message. "Don't do it. You're playing Russian Roulette with your own life," said Chaloux.Escarcega's funeral will be held Tuesday. Those cases include individuals on repatriation flights (2/5/20 and 2/7/20) from Wuhan, China, or from the Grand Princess cruise ship, who were placed under federal quarantine at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar.No other details were reported at this time. -----SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego leaders say there have been five new cases of the novel coronavirus in the county.The cases come as a Marine stationed at MCAS Miramar became the second confirmed case of coronavirus in the county by military sources. At last report, the county's first coronavirus patient was doing well.Wilma Wooten, County public health officer, detailed the new cases as:A female in her 70s who was reported to the county by the CDC. The woman was on the Grand Princess cruise ship that arrived in Oakland on Monday. The woman is at home in isolation.A male in his 50s with a history of travel to Colorado.A male in his 40s who may also have a history of travel to Colorado. He is at home in isolation.A female in her 70s who was in federal quarantine at MCAS Miramar after travel on the Grand Princess cruise ship. TULSA - Two women fought to stay alive as an armed robber broke into a midtown liquor store, the horrifying moments all caught on tape. Just one day after cheating death, when a man tried to a shatter a family for money, Justin Christian and his family are back to work. "You're not going to scare me off from my store this is what feeds my family this is what pays my bills," Owner of Forest Acres Liquor Justin Christian said. And customers were there not just to make purchases, but lay their eyes and hearts on the women who wouldn't give up without a fight. "I basically see a guy walk in the door from this angle and have a sawed off 12 gauge."Justin was out of town when his mother and sister took 36-year-old Tyrone Lee to task; now watching the video with us. "My mom says open the drawer, give him the money, give him the money."They gave him what he wanted then grabbed their guns, trying to lock him in the small room leading into the store.But one door didn't lock. "She's says stop, stop but he's still got the gun."He turns around, and that's when the fight to stay alive truly began. "He reached over, she ducked and fired again, and of course the gun's empty or else my mom and sister would be dead," Justin cried. He said Lee wanted to kill them. "What they're showing on TV ain't the real deal when you really watch it and know it and clean up the blood, and really understand what happened." He's just grateful it wasn't his family's blood he had to wipe from the floor. "The clerks did an outstanding job of fighting him," said Tulsa Police Sgt. Dave Walker. But more importantly he's grateful for another chance to fight for his family. Tulsa Police said Lee is in critical condition but he's expected to survive; and when he does he'll be under arrest.  1854

VALLEY CENTER, Calif., (KGTV) -- Residents who were evacuated by the Miller Fire Friday afternoon were given the go-ahead to return home Saturday morning. Firefighters made tremendous progress by mitigating the 37 acre fire to 75 percent containment. 10News met Sandor Gyetvai minutes after he and his family returned home from being evacuated. He was surveying his property."This is the starting point," Gyetvai said. "It's just frightening. There's just so much fuel load in here."He was one of more than 1,400 people evacuated from the zone in the direct path of the fast-moving fire. "I ran into the house and grabbed the hard drives with all of our family photos from 20 years ago. We grabbed those, we jumped in the car, grabbed the dog and took off," Gyetvai said. He said it was a scary feeling not knowing if they were coming back to a home or a pile of rubble. "It burned the whole back part of our neighbor's property and came up to the back of ours," he said, pointing at their fence. Firefighters made incredible progress and were able to save the home of Gyetvai's neighbor, Christina Bishop. Bishop's backyard was scorched, but she is finding joy in the little things that survived.The pine tree that her now-adult son planted when he was five years old survived. She also found a golfball her kids hit in the backyard from when they were pretending it was driving range. "I'm going to keep it as a souvenir of the big fire," Bishop said smiling. Aside from the heroic acts of the firefighters, Gyetvai says he also has to thank his two dwarf pygmy goats, Cookie and Midnight. He left the fences open for them to run during the fire, but they stayed and continued to eat off of the brush. "The fire came right up to our property and pretty much stopped because there was no brush to burn because they've eaten it all up!" Gyetvai said. He believed their healthy appetite helped fire-proof their property."They're just eating machines that are living lawnmowers," Gyetvai laughed. 2003
