SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police agencies throughout San Diego County are investigating multiple brewery break-ins, all within the last week. Employees at Serpentine Cider say they were hit last Friday morning. Their surveillance cameras captured a man walking up to their business, moving a planter and then smashing a window to get inside. The person got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Just two miles away, Longship Brewery says they were hit that very same morning. The suspect, also broke a window and crawled inside, getting away with an empty cash drawer. In Vista, Barrel Harbor Brewing confirms with 10News someone also broke into their place the same exact way. They reported the crime to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. On social media, a fourth brewery, Black Plague, posted pictures of a break-in at their business on Instagram. Oceanside Police is investigating that incident. So far, police haven't confirmed if the incidents are related or released a description of who they're looking for. 1029

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - People looking to buy a new or used car may have to hurry if they want to take advantage of the Coronavirus Pandemic's best deals and discounts.Recent studies from the California New Car Dealers Association show that sales of new cars in San Diego were down by 18.6% in the first quarter of 2020 compared to the same time of 2019. That's better than the state average of 21% but still worrisome for the industry.President Paul Dyke says his dealership saw sales drop in the 10-15% range at El Cajon Ford. But he says the company did a great job of offering deals to bring people into the lots, such as low-interest financing, long term payment plans, and lower prices."Zero percent is always something that gets people moving," says Dyke. "Now for the first time in Ford's history, doing it at 84 months on quite a few of the models really kept things going."The CNDCA says the Pandemic forced the industry to readjust its outlook for the year. They now predict new car sales to reach about 1.5 million in 2020, down from 2.1 million in 2019. If sales stay slow, it could be the worst year for new car sales since the Great Recession.Meanwhile, used cars are flooding the market as rental companies upgrade their fleet.Hertz recently filed for bankruptcy. The company iSeeCars.com did a study on their prices and found that Hertz was offering sales discounts in May that were 43% greater than the discounts they offered in April."There are still plenty of deals to be had," says Amada Lasik from iSeeCars.com. "That's especially true for cars that have been lingering on lots for a while, so we invite consumers to do as much research as they can."Manheim, a company that does used car auctions across the country, says used cars have been staying on lots for longer than usual. According to their data, almost 64% of used cars sold within 30 days back in February. By March, that number had dropped to 53%. The longer a car stays on the lot, the more likely a dealer will offer it at a lower price.Manheim also found that used car sales were down 34% in April compared to 2019, while wholesale used car prices dropped more than 11%.All that being said, experts believe these numbers will bounce back over the summer as restrictions ease.Dyke says his most significant concern for the industry is inventory. Since factories were closed for several months during the Pandemic, dealerships won't have as many cars to sell in July and August.Dyke says the companies will raise prices and eliminate the deals as demand increases while supply dwindles. 2574

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot in the leg in East Village late Saturday night.Authorities say a 48-year-old man parked his car on 11th and E Street near City College Station around 10:50 p.m. Saturday.The man got out of the car and started walking when he saw two people arguing and heard gunshots.According to police, the man got into his car and began to drive away when he felt a pain in his right leg, looked down and saw that he was bleeding.Police said at this time, they don’t have any description of the suspects.The man drove himself to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 642

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — More than half of the San Diego-based breweries that participated in a fundraiser to help Camp Fire victims say they've completed their donation on time, according to research by the 10News team.In December, Sierra Nevada brewing asked breweries across the nation to brew "Resilience IPA" as a way to make money for the Butte Strong Fund.Sierra Nevada offered to provide the recipe and work with suppliers to get the ingredients donated. All the local brewers had to do was brew and sell the beer, and donate 100% of the proceeds to the fund.According to Sierra Nevada's Resilience IPA website, more than 1,400 breweries across the country signed up. That includes 43 in San Diego County.Sierra Nevada asked the brewers to finish selling Resilience IPA by April 30 and complete their donation by May 14.In an email sent to brewers on May 21, Sierra Nevada said that nearly half of the breweries still hadn't completed their donation.10News reached out to all 43 breweries in San Diego that took part in the effort to see if they're living up to their end of the fundraiser. We also asked how much money they were able to donate.Of the 43 San Diego breweries we called or emailed, 29 told us they had finished their donation and sent in a check. Those breweries sent more than 7,000 combined. Three breweries told us they haven't been able to finalize their donation. Eleven breweries have yet to respond to our questions.For Societe Brewery CEO Doug Constantiner, helping Camp Fire victims was personal."One of my really good friends lost his house in the fire," Constantiner says. "When we saw the email come through, there was no question about it. We knew we were on board and signed up right away."Societe brewed 20 barrels and raised ,000."I think people really got the message what the Resilience IPA was brewed for and were willing to put their dollars behind it, knowing it was going to a good cause," says Constantiner.San Diego-based AleSmith Brewing made a smaller, two-keg batch, but still raised ,400. "I can honestly never think of another time that another brewery's tap handle was on here at AleSmith," says Quality Supervisor Peter Cronin.He hopes that the breweries that haven't been able to finalize their donation will send the money soon."I'm hoping they didn't just use a big brewery's name, a quality brewery's name to market it a little bit," says Cronin. " And I hope they would donate the money from that beer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — President Donald Trump told reporters Saturday the United States may close its border crossings to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.Speaking from the White House, the President said his administration was "thinking about" possibly closing the country's borders to guard against the spread of COVID-19."We have ports of entry that we are keeping open. And we're not talking about it, we're thinking about all borders," President Trump said Saturday, when asked of the country's border with Mexico.
