(KGTV) — MiraCosta College fell victim this week to vandalism from a white supremacy group.In a letter to students, university President Sunita Cooke said the incident occurred Wednesday involving vandalism by a white supremacy group.The letter didn't elaborate on what was exactly done on campus, only that the vandalism violated the college's "values of inclusion and serve to incite fear within our campus community."RELATED: CSU San Marcos police take down white nationalist posters"The district strongly opposes racist acts. To be clear – any doctrine that elevates one group above another has no place at this college. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A 7-year-old was found dead inside an Oceanside home Wednesday morning, leading to the arrest of her father, police say. According to Oceanside Police, the suspect's mother was called to the home on the 3500 block of Las Vegas Drive around 11 a.m. to pick up the suspect’s two children. When the woman went inside to pick up the children, she noticed blood on her son, Pedro Araujo, 27, police say. After leaving the home with one of the children, a 6-year-old girl, police say the woman called 911. Police arrived and, after searching through the home, found the body of the 7-year-old girl. Araujo was arrested and taken into custody, police say. "I'm shocked," said neighbor Tina Torres of the crime scene in her neighborhood. "When I left the house this morning, everything was calm.""It's very sad," Torres added. 853
OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — Firefighters battled a fire at a North County residence Saturday.The 3-alarm blaze was reported in the 1400 block of Division Street just after 2:30 p.m., according to an Oceanside Fire Battalion Chief. It took fire crews an hour to get the upper hand in the firefight, due to the wind and lack of resources, according to fire officials.Three people were injured. Two people were transported to UCSD hospital for burn injuries. One man was burned on the arm, according to his father, Alfredo Muruato. Muruato said his son and his daughter-in-law were asleep when the fire started and were awoken by the dog.Another resident, Carla Vega, described the harrowing ordeal. She said she was in the shower when she heard a loud boom, "I peeked out my head and smelled fire so I got out of the shower... I just saw a bunch of smoke everybody running." She said everyone was panicked. When she returned to remove her things, she said everyone was going to have to find another place to live. "Everything is replaceable, it is materialistic, my life is not materialistic, that’s what matters, I got myself out, my dog," Vega said.The Red Cross is assisting more than 30 people were displaced in the fire.The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Police said Wednesday that Eesa Cullors was last seen in the area of Center Avenue and Division Street.She is described as having curly hair, brown eyes and was wearing a black hoodie with “VS” on the front and black leggings.
