He said 'it was a cow valve' and I thought my life came full circle and a cow made it so I could live a longer life," said Walker.She received a pulmonary valve from a cow and that was back in 2017. Since then, she said she's never felt more happy and healthy."I felt so connected, happy, present and I knew I wanted to share it with others and that’s the idea where Heart Haven came," said Walker.She acquired land, adopted animals and was finally ready to open Happy Heart Haven, a non-profit animal sanctuary in Valley Center with pigs, horses, lambs and of course, cows."This is a place where people can leave all their troubles behind and they can be in the here and now, live in present and fill their heart with joy that animals can bring."She said she was nervous to open amid a pandemic, "What if this fails? SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — After San Diego leaders passed an ordinance allowing people to sleep in their vehicles, a group of critics say they're ready to camp in front of the Mayor’s house to reverse course or address the matter another way."I don’t think they realize that vehicle habitations were the beach community’s biggest problem,” said Racheal Allen, who's a part of the coalition opposed to vehicle habitations on residential streets. The new coalition is fighting against the City Council’s decision to repeal a decades-old ordinance that had prohibited people from living in vehicles on city streets. Now that it’s legal again the group says vans and RVs are creating homeless camps in their neighborhoods.RELATED: Allowing homeless to live in vehicles is causing problems, residents say“We have literally witnessed buckets of waste being thrown out of some of these vehicles," Allen said. "I’ve seen drug dealing out of some of the vehicles, we’ve seen bike chop shops operating."All of this, just in the month that living in vehicles has been legal again. And the coalition has been hounding the Mayor’s office to change it. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An El Cajon mother is searching for clues after her teenage son was brutally beaten and mugged in the East Village.Two Tuesdays ago, Sarah Swift-Farrow got the call every mother dreads. Her 19-year-old son, Titan Mellor, was in the ER and hurt badly."My heart dropped ... just a hopeless feeling," said Swift-Farrow.She believes around 2 p.m., her son, a Grossmont College student, was headed to the Family Health Centers clinic in the East Village, applying for some sort of state assistance, when it happened. Swift-Farrow learned details from the paramedics' report."He was attacked from behind by a group of people, hit in the back of the head with a glass bottle. He fell to the ground, was repeatedly punched, and lost consciousness. Then he was kicked in the face for an unknown duration of time," said Swift-Farrow.Swift-Farrow says the attackers took his keys, phone, and wallet, charging thousands of dollars in purchases on his credit cards during the next few days. As for Mellor, he suffered a concussion and a host of severe injuries."Multiple fractures in his eye socket, his nose, above the mouth, behind his ear and in the back of his head," said Swift-Farrow.She says his road to recovery won't be an easy one. His memory of the attack remains hazy."He remembers a group of six to eight males yelling at him, and then getting hit from behind," said Swift-Farrow.Swift-Farrow is making a plea for tips to help police fill in the missing details."They need to be caught because my son deserves justice, and I don’t want this to happen to anyone else," said Swift-Farrow.She says the first charge on the stolen credit card was at the nearby MTS stop.
