STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. – A suspected car thief was arrested after authorities say he was caught using a homemade license plate, drawn in crayon on a paper grocery bag. On Thursday, Indiana State Police say troopers stopped to lend a hand to 20-year-old Joshua Anthony Lewis-Brown when they spotted him stranded along the I-80 Toll Road. Initially, officers found Lewis-Brown tending to a flat tire on a Toyota Corolla. The man said he was unable to change the tire and he was in need of a tow truck. Preparing to oblige Lewis-Brown’s request, police say troopers spotted the suspicious license plate on the car and began to investigate further. Officers ran a check on the vehicle identification number (VIN) and discovered the Corolla had been reported stolen out of State College, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday. They also found that the driver, a resident of Rochester, New York, had never actually been licensed to operate a motor vehicle in any state and was on probation for grand larceny. Lewis-Brown was placed under arrest and transported him to the Steuben County Jail, where he was booked and charged with possession of stolen property and operating without ever obtaining a license. He’ll be held on the Indiana charges before being extradited back to Pennsylvania to face local charges.Police say the stolen vehicle had been left unattended and unlocked with the engine running outside a Pennsylvania grocery store. The owner, wanting to keep his car warming in the cold weather, had run into make a quick purchase, only to find his car missing upon return, according to police. “In light of this particular circumstance, the Indiana State Police would remind all motorists that leaving your vehicle unattended with the engine running and doors unlocked, is never a good idea,” wrote police. “Auto theft is often a common occurrence during the winter months. This is especially true in our urban neighborhoods where we find a higher concentration of residents wanting to warm their cars unattended in the frigid early morning hours prior to the morning commute.” 2081

Reverend Robert McWillams was arrested Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Strongsville, Ohio, for allegedly possessing child porn. "In a parish that you know and that you go to and people you trust,” parishioner Jennifer Herold said. According to the criminal complaint against McWilliams, he was in possession three separate times—the first instance in 2016, again in 2018 and then once more just this year. "In the catholic church you’ve heard these things go on in many different places all over the world and to think it's actually happening in your parish or in your area it's kind of shocking,” Herold said. Herold and her family go to St. Joseph. Her son is in the Parish School of Religion program. She said she asked him if he ever made contact with the accused Reverend. "I did ask him if he’d seen him before and he had not,” Herold said. "It does bring up conversations that you need to have with your kids about these kinds of dangers and what they should do, who they should talk to.” Herold said she wants action. "We need to be proactive and it just can’t be kind of swept under the rug,” Herold said. She also wants the church to talk about these things more. "I think it's hard for tradition, it’s hard for history to really kind of break the ceiling here and really come into the modern era and figure out okay, there’s a problem we need to deal with it,” Herold said. "He’ll still continue to go and we’ll still continue to follow our faith but I do think that doesn't mean that nothing needs to change.” According to the Cleveland Diocese, McWillams was a chaperone at at least one overnight trip at Camp Christopher. SOUTH CAROLINA — The mother of Raniya Wright, the Walterboro, South Carolina, girl who died after a classroom fight, says Raniya's friends told her that a bully had been baiting the 10-year-old into a fight and caused her to hit her head on a bookshelf before she died.Speaking to "Good Morning America" on Monday, Ashley Wright said she had complained to Forest Hills Elementary School in the past about the girl involved in the altercation."I notified the school and spoke with her teacher at the time about the same person. She would just always come home saying this one girl picking on her," she told "GMA."Though school officials have released sparse details about the circumstances leading to Raniya's death, Ashley Wright said that her daughter's classmates told her the bully had been "bothering Raniya all day, wanting to fight her.""They were in the class," the mother told the morning show. "The girl came up behind her and was hitting her all in the head. How long, I don't know. She pushed her or rammed her head into the bookshelf."Raniya had no prior health issues, Wright said. School officials said there were no weapons involved in the March 25 fight.The school nurse called the mother, Wright told "GMA," and told her that Raniya had "been in an accident, a fight." She was OK, the nurse told her, but she was complaining about dizziness and having a headache, Wright recalled.Officials said they stopped the fight, and Raniya was taken to the school nurse's station. She was unconscious when paramedics arrived, and they took her to a nearby hospital, according to a sheriff's office report. She was later airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she died two days after the fight.From the state Senate podium last week, Sen. Margie Bright Matthews of Walterboro said she's spoken to officials — including the substitute teacher in charge — and wanted to correct rumors surrounding Raniya's death."I've heard a lot of people say, 'Oh, they were kicking her.
