BEIJING, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said here Wednesday that President Hu Jintao's upcoming visit to Japan would have a profound impact on bilateral strategic and reciprocal relations.     "President Hu's trip is a great event in Sino-Japanese relations in the new period," Xi told visiting Yoshinobu Ishikawa, governor of Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan.     Xi said this trip would promote mutual understanding and friendship as well as substantial cooperation between the two countries.     He expected the two countries to seize the chance to become good neighbors and partners featuring peaceful existence, long-term friendship, reciprocal cooperation and common prosperity. BEIJING, July 3 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese diplomat on Thursday urged developed and developing countries to work on common policies and cooperation to address the global challenges such as climate change and food security.     "China values dialogue between the Group of Eight (G8) and developing countries", Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi said at a briefing on President Hu Jintao's attendance at the Outreach Session of the G8 Summit.     At the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, Hu will attend the Outreach Session of the G8 Summit in Japan from July 7 to 9.     The G8, comprising the United States, Britain, Germany, Canada, France, Italy, Japan and Russia, holds a summit each year.     Liu said the issues to be discussed would be "important" and "urgent", and he hoped the meeting would promote the dialogue between South and North, step up multilateral cooperation to resolve global issues and ensure lasting peace and common prosperity. BEIJING, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Negotiators in the six-party talks on the Korean peninsula nuclear issue reached a "principled consensus" here on Friday on verifying the declaration of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), a Chinese official said Friday.     The top negotiators discussed the specific principles of setting up a verification and inspection mechanism, as well as economic and energy aid to the DPRK, the Chinese delegation's spokesman Qin Gang told reporters.  GUANGZHOU, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Three people were confirmed dead in mud flows and strong winds caused by Typhoon Neoguri in south China's Guangdong Province, said the provincial flood-control headquarters on Sunday.     The typhoon claimed two lives in Shenzhen City, when a mud flow inundated a section of road under construction.
